I use an Uncle Mike’s #3 for pocket carry. It works well at protection but not so well at retention. That’s actually not bad for drawing from the pocket but I’m careful where my finger is placed during retraction.
My interest in guns came late. I was in my early 60s when a friend introduced me and he has a safe full of shooters. He has a nice collection of Ruger SA and DA revolvers and Glock semiautos of various sizes and calibers plus a nice assortment of long guns. Being a frugal guy I like a good...
The older ranges around here have updated their restrooms and the new ones have sparkling clean restrooms. One day a week they have Seniors day at half price.
Since we shoot outdoors on a farm there are no facilities when we're there. A restaurant a mile down the road has restrooms but they...
I visited my son and family last week. Friday he and I went to his local range. He tried out his new Sig SP2022 9mm and out of the box at 7 yards he was grouping 2” holes. He shot 50 rounds at various distances with it and I was impressed. I shot 100 rounds through my two .45 pistols plus a...
NC has some shooting ranges set up in National Forests. They have rifle lanes and pistol lanes. They are rustic but monitored on occasion. They are remote but worth the trip. I’m fortunate to have family farmland to shoot at so I only have to drive a half hour to shoot for free. Anyone not...
I noticed the transcript for Dick’s Sporting Goods third quarter stockholders report:
“...As expected, sales were negatively impacted by the continued weakness in hunt and electronics, which contributed to approximately 255 basis points comp decline. Despite these challenges, we have focused on...
I have a 12 ga with 2 #4 shot then 00 next. I think the #4 will do and hope I never have to find out. What sits next to me by my bed is .45 ACP and I'm accurate with it. Both my .45s carry Liberty Civil Defense JHPs. Expensive and I hope I never have to use it in self defense. I'm confident it...
James Bond always made amazing shots with his .380. :) In real life I'd be comfortable with a Ruger LC9s because I shoot it well. I'm found with a Kahr PM45 because I shoot it well. There are plenty of debates about caliber but I'm most comfortable with and carry a .45.
I bought one of these and it folds up so it will stand upright in the back seat footwell. It has clamps in it which would work for a rifle rest. I have used it for shooting my Mosin and my son in law's Remington .308.
If all I had were my Ruger P345 and my Kahr PM45 I would be satisfied. Having others and having friends who have even more others is a shooting treat. My physical size allows pocket carry on the latter.
I like my Silverado but it's big. I can't buy a Colorado because the seats don't adjust and the Silverado with a 5.3 (327) gets about the same mileage as the V6. When the Ranger comes back I'll be looking at it because the Chevy will be paid off and while it was the best option at the time, it...
