Latest advice on a spotting scope

Another vote for Konus. We've used them (60mm) for years at our gun club shooting programs. I have a 20x60-80mm, purchased new this year for less than $250. Darn good glass for the money. One advantage with the Konus 45 degree eyepiece scopes, is the ability to rotate the scope body 360...

    Mini-14 Vs. AR-15

While you have your ample collection of spare ejectors, extractors, pins and other itsy-bitsy parts out to repair the AR, someone might well sneak up and steal your lunch. Perhaps there's a good reason why the marketplace is rife with aftermarket replacement AR parts and isn't, for the Minis...

    Mini-30

Judging by the sights, pics and description, I'd say that is one of the current generation Mini 30s?

    Mini-14 Vs. AR-15

The Ruger, whether there was any cleaning solvent to be had, or not. In that post-apocalyptic world you described, I wouldn't be worried about knockin' the wings off'n gnats at 100 yards, or punchin' small groups of holes in paper.

    Mini-30

Mine shoots far more accurately with Wolf, than it will with Rem. UMC ammo. As for them "seizing up", have seen several warnings that some Wolf and other milsurp ammo, is corrosive enough to affect the gas system and that some care needs to be taken in that regard. No need to tinker with...

    Mini-30

Ruger is offering Mini 30 factory 20 rounders for around $40, as are others. Mine is more than accurate enough to hunt with, were that legal here in PA. Paid less than $300 for mine several years ago (189 series), used and in mint condition. I don't know where to find a new Mini 14 or 30...

Recently purchased a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle catalog number Mini-14/20

I have a 196 series Mini 14 and a 189 series Mini 30. Both are reliable, both are accurate enough to suit me fine. Have less than $700 in the pair (both bought used some time ago, in mint condition). Add another $180 total, for several factory 20 round mags and an aftermarket rear sight on the...

    m1 carbine magazines

My 15 round 30 Carbine mags are GI, but know several folks who are happy with recent Korean surplus 15 rounders and they're fairly inexpensive. Most of them came as-new, in the original pouches. CMP ran out of GI mags last summer, but think they have more now? BTW, most 30 rounders work...

    Ruger 10/22 Target model

I have about $300 in my 10/22 "custom": $75 for the rifle (30 years ago, used); $159 in the A&B (Green Mtn.) .920, 18" blued barrel/Fajen syn. sporter stock combo; $69 in the BSA Sweet 22 6x18x40AO; And a $10 raffle ticket in the Fajen syn. Legacy adjustable thumbhole stock. Absolutely loves...

    Flat shooting medium caliber?

This one's easy: 25-06. Been shooting/loading this one for over 30 years, no other choice for me. ;)

Remington 700 extractor - how big of a weak link?

Most likely a fluke, but I "see" complaints about Remington's QC often these days? Within my circle of friends/acquaintances, dwell dozens of M700s, including some varminters that have seen many thousands of rounds. Some of those are on their second barrels. None have ever had an extractor or...

How good is a 17 HMR?

Had a Savage 93 in 17HMR for a few months, about two years ago. Very accurate. No problem keeping five well inside of an inch @ 100 yards. A tad faster than advertised, according to one chrony test. Just couldn't figure out what it was good for and sold it. Not enough punch to suit me for...

why are 25 calibers bullets considered so bad

I've killed woodchucks and deer with the following bullets launched from a variety of 25-06s: 87gr, 100gr, 117gr and 120gr Sierras, but mostly 100gr Nosler Btips. I have no complaints whatsover, about any of these .257 bullets. There are lots of others just as good, or better.

    Remington 788

does anyone know who makes aftermarket stocks for the 788? thanks, RG Ramline still makes synthetics; some of the major aftermarket makers once offered walnut replacements, don't know if any still do or not? There is an outfit in Dushore, PA that makes them and they're not all that...

    Ruger M77 stuck bolt

If everything else is in order: Firearm, COL, cases sized/trimmed properly, powder charges within "spec" etc...might wanta double check the crimp part? Only loads I crimp, are for lever rifles, semi-auto rifles and revolvers. Most of them are just a mild roll-crimp on bullets w/cannelures for...
