I bought a used 870 Express several years ago, and it has been trouble-free. It has hardwood stocks and a matte finish on the receiver and barrel. My son owns it now, and it is his preferred gun for doves and ducks.
Keep it clean and lightly lubricated and don't forget to remove the choke...
I have two options -- A left-hand IWB holster that clips to the inside pocket of my jacket or a pocket holster (my preferred) that I can wear in the same location or discreetly shift to a pants pocket, if I need to shed the coat.
If it were a choice between kydex and leather, I would go with leather, mainly for aesthetics, but also because it seems much more supple than kydex.
Consider the Uncle Mike's IWB neoprene holsters. They are comfortable, easy drawing, and can be worn cross-draw. It does take a little longer...

Large capacity generally means double-stack and less concealability.
The statistics I have read concerning actual firefights involving trained police officers show a...
For me, it depends on the day. One day my GP-100 has a tighter group, and the next time the 1911 will take the honors. Th fact is that all the shots are in a vital area and if this were a critical situation I would do well with either firearm.
Bottom line -- the person holding the firearm...
I agree on the Uncle Mike's pocket holster. It definitely works as advertised, although I have noticed that it grips better in cotton pockets than it does in polyester pockets.
I am 59 and prefer to remain a "man of mystery".
However, if I did carry, it would be a S&W 637 (J-frame) with Hornady Critical Defense ammunition, carried in a pocket holster.
