CZ 97 BD vs SR11. I'm not sure of my next .45 acp purchase

Get the CZ. I've owned the Ruger but don't recommend it. Go with a forged Springfield as your first 1911.

Ever offered your gun at the range?

Every time I shoot. It's a great way to try unfamiliar guns without shelling out $$ for rentals. The friendliest shooters usually are Glock guys. I think I've now shot every model except for the long slides thanks to generous folks at the range.

    S&W M&P 15-22p

If the range I go to is any indication, these things are insanely popular. I always see a handful at the public range I go to. My bro has one and it is a lot of fun. The 15-22s have problems though. My bro's fired out of battery and blew off the extractor (into the side of my face). This...

    9mm Suggestions

The P07 is a terrific value (I'm guessing they still go for less than $450 new). My bro has one and after a couple thousand rounds the only problem we've had is a bad magazine spring. It's reliability has been nothing short of amazing. It's light and compact and would make an excellent CCW...

    UPS Next Day Air mandatory?

Do yourself a favor and call a few FFL holders. FFLs can ship USPS priority mail. IMO the easiest thing to do is find one that ships cheap, drop off your gun, and let them drop it in a flat rate box and send it on its way. Last time I did this it was $20/gun. No ridiculous overnight shipping...

    How reliable are 3" 1911s?

My 3.5" RIA needed a new trigger and I had to fiddle with the extractor (straight out of the box), but after that (and 1,000 rounds later) it has been perfect. If I had to do it again I would not choose a 3" 1911 for carry. I'd go with a plastic gun.

    No holster carry?

No holster + semi auto = moronic. Unloaded CCW? :banghead: There are plenty of no-frills kydex/leather holster options, Silent Thunder for example, that are plenty comfortable AND safe.

    Chambering .45 ACP multiple times...problem?

You're making this more complicated than it needs to be. Shoot rounds that have been chambered more than a couple of times. You'll go through several boxes of expensive hollow points every year, but so what? You should be rotating your carry ammo anyway. Generally speaking, I don't worry...

    9MM & 45 ACP Bullets??

I've loaded and shot 1,500 of the Rocky Mountain Reloading 230g RN without issue. They are awfully expensive for a plated bullet though. I'm going to try Zero FMJ next. My #1 choice is 200g SWC, without a doubt. I've tried 'em from a half dozen places and honestly they all shot the...

    Dick's sporting goods

LOL no! You might find a plastic ammo box here or there, but that's it. Horrible selection of firearms. Mediocre ammo prices.

    M&P45 or Ruger SR1911

I have a SR1911. It took 2 trips to Ruger to clear up FTF issues. It is a decent mid-range 1911. To me it's an apples to oranges comparison to the M&P. I've only held an M&P in the shop but loved the ergos and wouldn't hesitate to buy one. The trigger sucks compared to a single action 1911...

Looking for a new carry belt...

AG Gunleather. His quick ship belts will be on your doorstep in about a week. Top notch craftsmanship.

    Happy with your holster?

Garrett Industries' Silent Thunder (I have the IWB version) is my EDC holster. Incredibly simple, effective, and comfortable. I've tried and am not a fan of the crossbreed/minotaur style holsters. Overkill, even for a full-sized 1911.

.22 LR effect of barrel length

I'm not sure you'll find a ballistics table for this since the difference will be insignificant. .22 increases speed right up to around 12-14" barrel length, after which anything longer actually starts to slow the little round down.

    loaded magazines

No kidding. Load them to capacity and keep them that way. With regular use you'll know exactly when the springs are a problem and need to be replaced. I'd be very surprised if, with light use + fully loaded 24/7, you need to change the springs more than once every few years.
