    J.C. Higgins .22LR revolver

Not too late in my book. I have been finding 22longs and 22LR in the stores lately at close to normal pricing. Federal 325 bulk packs for $18.00 and Winchester 22 long. My 88 shoots shorts, longs and LR. at the 10 - 15 yard range, very little difference on POI. It is a fun revolver to...

    Upland Game Vest suggestions

Just my opinion on the choke and shot size. Most of my grouse hunting is in thick cover. Most shots at game are 5 yards to 20 yards and for my 12 gauge the modified choke works well. Would pattern your shotgun to see how it patterns at the range you will be hunting. I use 8, 7.5 and 6 , but...

    Upland Game Vest suggestions

A vest can be a very useful hunting garment if you find one that is well thought out. I find I use the shell holders the least, vest holds far more shells than I need to carry when hunting. Different story for sporting clays. I use the inside vest pocket for my license and stamps. I like two...

Cool project, hope it goes well for you. I think any Colt SAA project is worth doing, and you started this one at a good price point. In the photos I noticed on the left side of the frame near the patent numbers it appears to be stamped U.S. is that what I am seeing? Do you know what year...

    Colt SAA 4 3/4" 44-40

I sent and e-mail to Joe at Outlaw Grips and he said they are Lace Wood, he did not make the grips on this revolver. So now I know they are Lace Wood. Thanks for all the help. I'll post some targets after I shoot some with this Colt. DMH

    Colt SAA 4 3/4" 44-40

Maybe these photos will help identify the grips or material the grips are made of. I had some input as to them being a laminate, but they do not look to be. Maybe I'm being fooled! I have looked online at Snakewood and that is what I think these are made out of. Any thoughts are appreciated...

    Colt SAA 4 3/4" 44-40

Here are some photos of my new Colt. I am looking for some thoughts on what the material (type of wood) may be that the wood grips are made out of. The photo may make it look like a pattern put on the wood, but it is not. The pattern is in the wood and the grips are silk smooth. I am very...

    Colt SAA 4 3/4" 44-40

Thanks for all the help and information. I've learned from the input and knowledge from you guys and I do appreciate your time, expertise and photos. I will post photos of my new Colt this weekend. I will just have to see if this one turns out to be OK or not. I still am undecided about if...
