    Why not the same?

Given that the case length is fixed, the distance from case base to begining of the freebore throat is fixed, the diameter at the lands is fixed, the diameter of the comparator is fixed, and the freebore throat lead is fixed, I have yet to read a response that explanes why any bullet's distance...

    Colt 45 Magazine Question

Thanks for the input guys. Found someone local who knows Colts well and he comfirms they are for the Officers model and, as luck would have it, original Colt in good shape. Guess I'll just have to buy an Colt Officer to fit my mags.

    Colt 45 Magazine Question

Just beginning the learning processs. Recently picked up a Model 70 and needed magazines. Found a couple at a gun show that are too "short" for my Government. They have Colt 45 on the base along with the horse and an "M" stamp. Which Colt model(s) are a match for these mags?

Need Feedback on New Product. Free Gun Cloth!

Got mine in the mail yesterday and tried it on one of my rifles. Big mistake - five rifles later. GREAT PRODUCT. Impregnated sheepskin left a bit of "oily" feel that was quickly removed with the polishing cloth leaving a nice finish. You should do very well with this product. Good Luck.

    AR 15 Accuracy Expectation

Thanks for all the input. Kept seeing references to 1:9 twist until it dawned on me that it was my typo error from the get-go. Should have been 1:8. At any rate, various advice led me down the path of doing a little crown polishing, aggressive bore cleaning and a little bore polishing. Groups...

    AR 15 Accuracy Expectation

Thanks everyone. It looks like it's back to the drawing boards to find just the right load and bullet for this particular rifle. Went with the 1:9 twist because I thought it offered a good range of bullet weights that it could handle thereby offering a potential for a 300-400 yd shots. I'll...

    AR 15 Accuracy Expectation

Recently picked up a "custom" built AR-15 with a 1/9 20" free floated SS barrel, unknown who milled the upper, Mega lower with a Giessle trigger installed, and Harris bipod. At 100 yds the groups varied from a low of just under 2" to over 3 1/2". Traded out scopes at one point to see if the...

Help for Remington 700 Stock Upgrade

Thanks everyone for the insights. Will try the pillar bedding on an older 250-3000. Since the pull is too short for me on the 700, I think I'll be looking for a nicely bedded relacement stock.

Help for Remington 700 Stock Upgrade

Is a pillar bed something that can be done by the average person? If so, where would you look to find out how and/or purchase the appropriate components?

Pillar Bed Once more demonstrating my ignorance. How does one go about pillar bedding a stock?

Help for AR 223 bullet selection

Research continues Any group of knowledgable individuals will have differing opinions. The "spread" of answers to date points me in the right direction and has helped to focus on a few of the countless options available. There's little point in getting a 20" (+?) heavy SS barrel for accuracy...

Help for AR 223 bullet selection

Barrel twist considerations Thanks again for all the input. The barrel will come with either a 1 in 8 or 1 in 9 twist, depending on: 1. Which becomes available first. OR 2. Specific advice members of this forum.

Help for AR 223 bullet selection

To crimp or not to crimp Thanks for the guidance. Except for the MatchKings, these have cannelures and I've read elsewhere on this site that crimping isn't really necessary. Should you always crimp a bullet that has a cannelure?
