    Baby Browning Troubleshooting Help?

Problem solved! When I took out the firing pin, spring and cocking indicator, I noticed that the firing pin spring didn't go all the way into the "socket", somewhere along the line the end of the spring had been stretched so it didn't bottom out. So the spring was too long for the sear to catch...

Talk me into (or out of) a Kimber

I have 2 Kimbers I bought used from a local gun store. A 4 inch Pro TLE II and an Ultra Carry 3 inch barrel. Both were gently used, e.g. broken in and easy to refurbish with new springs, Crimson Trace grips etc. I mention the "broken in" because any gun needs some break in time. My Kahr CM9...

    Baby Browning Troubleshooting Help?

For the last few years I've been interested in some of the older Mouse Guns in .25ACP. From an '08 Colt Vest Pocket, Baby Browning and a bunch of others that made it here before the ban on "Saturday Night Specials" ... that drove the criminals to much more reliable and powerful guns (another...

M1 Garand Chicago and Cook County Legal?

FWIW, the nice folks at the CMP have shipped several rifles (Garand, Carbine and 03 Springfield) direct to my office in Cook County, as well as ammo cans full of 30.06. Always fun to have somebody come in the office, and ask "What's in the ammo can?" Then when I say ammo, they look and laugh...

In the market for a pocket 380

Another vote for the Kahr CW380, but for sights get a Crimson Trace Laserguard for it. When you put visible/bigger/night sights on a mouse gun it's no longer a Mouse Gun.

    A tipping point?

Well, it's just another grass roots anecdotal example, but Thursday I had to drop some papers off at my father's lawyers office in a Chicago suburb. I had my NRA Instructor ball cap on when I did it, don't even think about what I have on much. The Paralegal that runs the office "Vanessa" nice...

    Cook County Residents

A lot will depend on how much of a tax she asks for. Adding a percent or two to the existing sales tax "might" pass constitutional muster. But ... if it's one of those 50 cent a round taxes, like SFO and other cities have tried, they'll wind up in court with Alan Gura using Minneapolis Star...

    Best guns to buy used?

Marlin/Glenfield Model 60 Buy one off the used rack for each grand kid you have (or think you might have someday). Prices range from $30 with a broken spring or two to $150, like new Same goes for any Remington Nylon 66 you might see while browsing out there. Marlin 39A ... if you can...

Suggestions to better my rifle for long range shooting

Timney drop in trigger as a first step I have the first version of the Axis in 30-06, without the good Savage Accu-trigger that's in the Axis II. After trying several adjustments I finally popped for the Timney adjustable trigger. Cost about $100, but what a world of difference on the...

New to me Kentucky rifle with no "marks" question on ball size?

So far I've been buying my patches for the .50 Hawken. But I reload for all my other guns so making my own patches isn't out of the question. Just not sure how I'd know the thickness of the cloth/ticking?

New to me Kentucky rifle with no "marks" question on ball size?

I'm fairly new to black powder and before I went to the range to test fire my new rifle, I thought I'd check with some of you folks with more experience. Last week I picked up a pretty nice tiger stripe Kentucky Rifle at the LGS. It was in a rack with all black rifles and was a rose among...

What are the S&W Model 29 Going for Now?

Just bought a 29-3 for $600 last week Illinois, Chicago south suburbs. 6" barrel, very little wear on the bluing. Original S&W grips, serial number puts it in '80's. It was in the used rack at a Gander Mountain. It was in the bottom of the case, in the back row with the gun laying on...

Dems pushing for Ginsberg to retire from SCOTUS for new Obama pick

And there's always the chance they'll tick her off and she'll stay around ... just to teach those "pushy whippersnappers" a lesson. And then a GOP Senate and WH occupant can choose someone that actually read the Constitution, instead of using it for kindling.

What's the most exotic ammo you have ever shot?

Not as exotic as the legendary 22LR but ... 600 Nitro Express out of a double rifle. Two years ago and my shoulder still aches.

After 69 years, it is real

Mine came in last Monday the 3rd. (Instructor - applied Dec 20) Wasn't sure I'd live to see it, but there it is! For all of the folks that told us to "Give up and just move out", thanks for the motivation, now go scratch yourself somewhere.
