If you are looking to wildcat your 1911, go with 460 rowland. It uses your 45acp dies and is a pretty powerful load to shoot. There are buffalo bore loads available for purchase.
I would consider a 1911 in 22lr. Personally I have a marvel precision upper for one of my 1911's. Gsg sig and others have 22lr 1911's. It is a great training tool for your other shooting. Burn a pile of 22lr and the see how much better you are with 45acp.
I have one. It is a fun round. I reload for it but it is still pretty expensive to shoot. I have not had any problems with mine. Buy one and enjoy. Here is a picture.
I had one. I liked it but it was loud as hell, and not very practical. I ran fine but I probably only put 200-300 rounds through it. Sort of cheap and plastic. Definitely fun. Try one you might like it but I shoot other pistols better and in more volume so it had to go. I still have a...
I have a Marvel Unit 1 on one of my 1911's. It is fantastic. I did not shoot that pistol much at all and when I did it was a 460 Rowland conversion. I got the Marvel off Gunbroker for a very good price but I hunted for months. The practice with the conversion on a 1911 is helpful. I love...
I used to own a PF-9. I sold it and bought a PM9. I like the kahr better. it is slightly shorter and the grip angle is a little flatter so it rides in my pocket better. My PF-9 was a good gun. I was able to reliable get failure to ejects whan I limp wristed it on purpose. I have never been...
Has anybody shot 460 Rowland in a Governor? Would the moon clips hold up? The chamber length would let the round fit but would the length be a problem due to the additional velocity over 45ACP?
I recently bought a used marvel unit 1 on gunbroker. For me I shoot mostly 9mm 1911's but have a 45ACP that I did not shoot very often. The marvel is unbeleivable. Accuracy is amazing. The mags are a little tight with 10 rounds but with 9 the reliability was great with decent ammo. I...
Here is my conversion. It is not an every day round. I don't think it beats up the frame any more than 10mm would.
Every once in a blue moon you see a 10mm cbob pop up. That is a pretty sweet find.
I know the limited edition is pricey. I would love to have one if I had the spare funds.
The one Zerodefect was pointing you to is the one I was talking about. That is one nice looking pistol.
On a side note I was looking at 10mm a while back and just felt like I would not shoot it as much. Instead I converted my Dan wesson PM-7 45 , a fine weapon in regards to the one you...
