Thanks gies. That is what I had in mind. The barrel is a mess but the other parts are in good shape. The trigger is the best part of this pistol. Thanks again.
I have an Ruger Old Army I would like to sell. The problem is I dont know what it is worth. So I came here for your help.First off it is in bad condition. The forcing cone is badly pitted and the barrel as well. The cylinder has lite pitting. The original grips are gone.It has a conversion cylinder...
Better to save the money.I got the one off E-bay figuring it would make a big improvement. And it did nothing really.I still have it in my RL550B but if i took it out I would not be able to tell.
What you really need to watch is the bullet not locking up the cyclinder from jumping forward.I use a small shim to cast mine a bit larger. And yes they do hit a little high. Also to get them to start easy I bevel the base some.I can't get used to the narrow trigger on the ROA without the trigger...
I hate to jump in like this but feel this is the best place to ask.Can any one tell me the value of a 90% or better 336 Marlin w/walnut stock 20 inch barrel rifle may be.Some one put a butt pad on this rifle some years ago.It is a 1979 model and may have had the pad all those years.Allso all it...
cast boolit
I am going to use the Lyman 311041 it is a 173 grain FN.It comes out to 177.9 lubed and gas checked for me.I have heard it both ways about Marlin lever guns and cast boolits. All I can do is give it a try.
made a mistake
Thank you for the reply and the link. However I made a mistake.Mine is the 20 inch barrel.I really like this rifle.I had a newer 336A and didn't like it near as much. When I get it broke in I am going to give 173 grain cast a try in it.
Just got a 1979 Marlin 336 it has the 18 inch barrel 6 shot tube and plain walnut wood.My question is all it says is model 336.Why no letter after the number. All the ones in my gun books have a letter. The closest one seems to be the 336C.Thanks.I would like to know something about it.
I believe this one has "Doughnut" post rib. Also it has checkered forearm with one diamond in center. The ser. No. Is 134xxx.There are so many in the Blue Book I don't know what to think. But this gun is 95% plus. The barrel is marked Skeet.
