    why so complicated?

I really don't see that in firearms. You could argue the best pistol design is nearly 100 years old. A modern Wilson or Nighthawk or Les Bear is no more complicated than one made in 1911. I just don't see how firearms have become more complicated. What's more complicated about a S&W revolver...

Which Gun Feels Like It Was Made For Your Hands ?

STI As much as I love traditional all-steel 1911s (and I have several), my IPSC Limited gun, built on an STI frame, feels best in my hand. I have very long fingers, so I'm guessing the double stacked sized grip is why I like it so. Of course, the best fit is my Bullseye gun, a traditional...

    question on laser bore sighters

I see guys at IPSC matches use these sighters because they're always changing stuff on their guns. I never saw the point. They only get you close so you'll probably be 'on the paper' when you go to sight in. You still have to sight in. So what does this laser save you? Perhaps one or two...

Travelers insurance won't cover 'Assault Rifles'

Jim, this is FUD! I worked in the Personal Insurance industry for nearly 20 years and I can tell you that you are wrong. There is no way, not in ANY state, that a company could deny a claim because someone owned a firearm unless that was SPECIFICALLY spelled out in the exclusions section of...

Travelers insurance won't cover 'Assault Rifles'

I bet Travellers actuall does cover your AR15. Look at their actual policy and you'll probably find coverage for guns, subject to a deductible, that doesn't not exclude any specific type of firearm. What you heard was an Underwriting position. I suspect they're not interested in "scheduling"...

What is the biggest POS you ever shot?

An old Freedom Arms revolver...that didn't really revolve. What a piece of crap.

How would you deal with this "uncovered" undercover gun?

You don't think it's necessary? If a crazy person came in your church to kill people and was stopped by this guy, would you still think it unnecessary? We can rest assured your fellow churchgoer isn't going to hurt anyone, so I'd say what is unnecessary is bothering him.

A friend's ND into the basement wall

I've had people ask me why I'm constantly racking the slide on any pistol that is before me. There you go.

    Glock 34 or XDm

EVERY IPSC gun needs a trigger job, so I wouldn't worry much about the factory trigger. I believe you can also change the front site in Production Class. So again, I say pick the one that feels best in your hand. You might have a local range that rents pistols. Try them both.

Is your Mayor on this list?

It would be waste of time for me to write. The mayor of Los Angeles is not only a NOTORIOUS gun grabber, he advocates socialism and economic fascism. There is so much to hate about the guy, I wouldn't know where to start. He advocates for Latinos in SoCal, which is the only reason he got...

    Glock 34 or XDm

It really makes no difference with regard to reliability, parts, and ability to modify (trigger job, etc). Pick the one that feels best in YOUR hand.

Why no rapid fire at the range I go to

Find another range Several ranges in my area (SoCal) restrict rapid fire. They do not get my business. The few I found that allow rapid fire (and drawing from a holster) get ALL of my business...and I go through over 30,000 rounds per year. Screw the ranges with their nanny mentality.

Fiber Optic Sights -- Worth it?

gold! My favorite front site is a gold dot. Not too bright but always quickly visible. That said, if I wasn't using gold, I prefer a FO front site. Green is my color of choice though I have no problem with red. Black on black is fine and many good shooters use this set up but I like...

Why doesn't anyone make a high capacity lightweight 1911?

Why not buy a lightweight frame (STI, SVI, etc) and have one made?
