    Armed Citizen Intervenes

It is sad that our society seems to have developed this idea that only the police should stop crime, intervene, protect others, or even just check out a suspicious person in the neighborhood. In reality, all citizens have the same duties and responsibilities regarding public safety. The...

    Buying a Manufacturers SBR?

The main difference is that factory SBRs seem to cost a premium over the sum of their parts, or their 16" counterparts. Also, buying a factory sbr means the dealer gets your full purchase price six to 9 months or more before you get your rifle.

    AR magazines....need help

Pmags and lancer are top. Quality mil spec fromm d&h, ntmg, or okay are all also fine, but a magpul follower in them is nice. No reason to get anything else as these are all now widely available and low cost.

    Safe advice - between $3000 and 4500

It has been made pretty clear, most recently by a long time amsec engineer, that the drylight fill has no real security value. It is there for heat resistance. So, I think a 1/4" liner is a very nice upgrade to the BF. I'd say it is a game changer, as long as the price keeps it in the same...

RSC Decision - AMSEC or Sturdy

They are very plain and simple, especially on the inside. If you like the fancy, carpeted residential look, you will likely be disappointed. The trade off however, if a better build quality and thicker steel. I didn't care about looks so it wasn't a problem for me. The sturdys have a very...

RSC Decision - AMSEC or Sturdy

The sturdy 4g is built exactly the same way, one piece body. The 4g really is just barely thicker than 7. Hard to even tell by eye or touch. Sturdy has said they use grade 50 when available and A36 minimum. It is isn't specified anywhere so I suppose there is no guarantee. They do use...

RSC Decision - AMSEC or Sturdy

I recently took delivery on a 3224-6 from Sturdy. One of the reasons I settled on this was the size. It is a near perfect fit for where I wanted to place it. I also wanted a 72" tall safe and I am VERY glad I did. For me, it makes the safe much more versatile and useable. A 72" tall safe but...

    Help on Gun Safe Decisions?

it seems to me that spending 20% of your total gun collection value is pretty reasonable and prudent. Some may spend more than that depending on replaceability, etc. If I have $20k of firearms and related valuables sitting in my house, $4k for a safe seems prudent. Some people spend more on a...

    Sturdy Safe door storage ideas

If you have shelving and racks, you will have to modify them since there insn't much space between them and the door liner. In other words, you'll have to reduce useable interior space in order to add useable space to the door.

NY Proposes a Law Exempting Retired LEO's

I'll just leave this here: Robert Peel is considered to be one of, if not the, father of modern policing. Sure would be nice if our reality today reflected this attitude. "The police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give...

    CCW Breakaway pants

I don't own any yet, but they are on my wish list. I've seen them up close and spoken to the owners and seen them demonstrated and they were impressive.

    Slide fire stock

I'm sure it will come up at some point becuase the news can make a scary video with them. The truth is, those stocks are stupid. If someone had a rifle and was trying to kill me, I would definately hope they were using a slide fire stock.

    Home defense load for 9mm

Any handgun round capable of reliably penetrating clothing and the human body to a sufficient depth will also penetrate interior walls of a home. If you have a round that won't penetrate a couple layers of dry wall, then you have a round that is sub optimal for self defense.
