Target Shooting/Hunting on TN Private Land

Old thread, I know... One range I used to go as a kid had the shooter shoot through a tunnel made up of 8 or 10 tractor tires. This set up acted like a giant silencer, and greatly reduced complaints from neighbours.

What guns are you drooling over right now?

Having just scratched the S&W Model 52 itch that I've had for years, I think I pretty much have everything I've really wanted. A nice High Power would be nice, but I'm not going out of my way to get one. A Johnson 42 would be too, but the price tag is more than I can bear. Unless someone takes...

REm 870 express 20ga barrel prices

got the barrel, shot some trap on Sunday. Pretty happy with this shotgun. I thought the recoil would be much milder, though. Not a problem for me, but for the wife and kid they might still be a little intimidated. Might have to pick up a 410... ;)

REm 870 express 20ga barrel prices

Won the auction at $130. Seems like a good price to me.

REm 870 express 20ga barrel prices

I picked up another shotgun, the 20/21" youth model for my wife and kids. I'm interested in picking up a 26 or so barrel, but can't seem to find much around (maybe I'm not looking in the right place). Found one on Gunbroker, but I want to make sure I don't bid more than I should. What's a...

Help Shepard Smith understand why the "Loophole" exists

Not exactly. The law requires a dealer to perform a background check on all firearms sales: new, used, consignment. It has nothing to do with accountability in one case and not the other. The only reason intra-state transfers are exempt is that the Federal government has been unable to...

Help Shepard Smith understand why the "Loophole" exists

What is, essentially, the difference between a neighbour buying a shotgun from another neighbour, and then him going to the gun store down the road to buy another shotgun. Essentially, there is no difference, but they are treated as different under the law. So, why should the purchase from a...

Felons with Firearms (law specific ?)

Even then, the term felon is too broad (in my view) to disqualify one from fierarms ownership. There are many offenses punishable by jail for 365+ days, white-collar type crimes that do not involve violence. Medicaid fraud may be one that could hit close to home on many gun boards, for...

    930 barrel for trap/skeet

Yes, one of the salesman at the gun store/range did point that out as well. However, seems the recommendation was fairly consistent: break in with "heavier" loads, then dial back to whatever you want to use. His take on the HD was the same: no need for high power rounds, dial back to low...

    930 barrel for trap/skeet

The two combinations listed above are the only real choices for the 930 (there are more on the website, but the finish of the barrel is the only real difference, and there are rifled barrels which of course won't do). Surprisingly enough, I took the 930 to a range set up for Trap-like...

    930 barrel for trap/skeet

I recently picked up a 930SPX for HD. But since I have it, I may as well try our a little trap/skeet. Since I have 0 experience with shotguns, I'd like to tap the collective experience for recommendations. Which barrel would best serve me for entry-level trap/skeet? I don't hunt (yet?)...
