I have a Hakim
I have a Hakim.
It's a pretty interesting rifle. It has a tipping bolt and direct gas impingement. Takedown is pretty easy, and it's reasonably accurate. It also has a good muzzle break and weighs so much that there is very little felt recoil.
If you load it with the...
I have one
I picked one up for about $90 about a year or so ago.
The bolt is much smoother than the Nagant, and the safety is much more user friendly as well. My only real complaint is that I think the front sight post is too wide.
605 Recoil
I understand Taurus makes a set of full sized grips that will fit the 605. Having more hand meat in contact with it would probably cut down the felt recoil a bit.
This being said it would also make it harder to conceal, so I just left the factory grips on mine. I start my practice...
In Oregon there is a 5 round capacity limit on semi autos, unless one is huting for Western gray squirrel. FMJ ammuntion is not allowed, nor are fully automatic weapons. I think this has more to do with poaching than anything.
As far as milsurps that use full power cartridges go I have a M44, a Yugo M24/47 Mauser, and a K-31.
The recoil on the M44 is very abrupt. I don't know what kind of ammo I'm running through it, I got a lot of it in unmarked paper bundles for very little money.
The K-31 and the M24/47 seem...
Taurus 605
When I do carry I carry my Taurus 605. I realize the short barrel keeps the .357 round from reaching full speed, but there's still more energy there than with a .38.
First of all it is not fun to shoot, but that's not why I own it. The recoil is pretty intense, but it's still...
I'm going to pick up a .45 by the end of the year (maybe even next weekend). It'll probably be either an XD-45 or a 1911 (my friend has XDs in .357 SIG and .40, they're nice).
I'm 26 years old, male, and divorced. I make my living as a network engineer and go to college part time (computer science). Most of my disposible income (less than there could be because of the mortgage) goes to having fun with my girlfriend and various friends.
I grew up around guns, not...
I had a problem with my Sub 2000 today...
It broke in half, just after firing it. I've owned it for a little over six months without the slightest bit of trouble, until today. I'm really glad I (or anyone else) was not injured.
Tomorrow I am going to figure out what I need to do to send...
