    Fixing a flinch...

Hitting at distance You didn't say if you're shooting polymer or steel. If you're used to the feel of a revolver, then the feel you get with a polymer gun may confuse your muscle memory. When I first got a .40 polymer gun, I'd only shot revolvers and those were, like you .357s. I had a...

    Rifle Question.

A different choice - vz58 While the AKs and SKSs may be marginally less expensive, the vz58 is a tank, a short stroke gas piston rifle, still in service with the Czechs in Afghanistan, as well as at home. It's lighter, more accurate, and easier to field strip and clean than the AK. There is a...

Hornady Nitride or RCBS carbide dies for pistol

I've had RCBS Jr. and now have a LNL single stage. I bought RCBS dies for that press and Hornady carbide for the LNL. I wouldn't purchase non-carbide dies, as dust abides many places. Even with lube, if there is dust in the air, you get some on the cases. After a while, the dies wear. Whether...

Dry fire tests For those of you with computer monitors or with a big screen TV hooked to a computer, here is a pointer to Matt Burkett's website and a series of dry fire exercises. http://www.mattburkett.com/flashfiles/dryfire.html

    Jeff Cooper on Point Shooting

Newton's physics isn't obsolete, it's a special subset of a larger field now. This is equally true for how one targets threats - close enough, point and blast, farther aim it more carefully. Not that I'm implying point and shoot isn't aiming. I learned that technique 30+ years ago, but I now use...

How accurate is your rifle at 34,000 yards?

Selfforging munitions Almost anything can be breached with the selfforging munitions being used against tanks. 17" of armor takes a little more, but it's doable. In a sense, the weapon makes a low melting point eutectic out of the armor as it penetrates. With a shaped charge MOAB type...

    VZ 58 - updates wanted

I'm currently looking at an AK style weapon. Knowing the Czech's make really fine machinery and weapons, I'm tilting strongly toward the VZ 58. I'd like some range updates if y'all wouldn't mind the time. Is anyone shooting Georgia Arms 7.62x39? I like the prices. It seems that AK ammo...

How accurate is your rifle at 34,000 yards?

They can do better than 34,000 yds That # is 102,000 ft, or a little short of 20 miles. Using sabotted shells, a 16" gun can exceed 50 miles, with good (classified) accuracy. I love it, throw a VW 50 miles and drop it in for a "brief visit".:neener:

someone recommend me a good .40 SW pistol

+1 on Steyr M40-A1 My wife and I own the "twins" - they're 9 off in the serial #s. Good looking, and great shooting guns. I love Georgia Arms 155 Gold Dot JHP +P+ - 1300 fps. Righteous! GA has target loads too - "canned heat" - remanf 165 FMJ 1050 fps @ $235/1000. 100 and 50 rd put-ups too...

Anyone only have a semi-auto for home defense?

Home defense only autos We have dual M40-A1 Steyrs. A Beretta CX4-40 with red dot will follow shortly. My long range weapon will be 7.62 Nato, or 7.62x39, I'm still deciding. Basically, I'd like a SSG-04, or PTR 91 SC. My thoughts are to keep 0-100 yds clear with 40, farther than that I've...

.40 S&W (Best gun for the money?)

Try a Steyr M40-A1 I've got two, well, one is my wife's. We've almost 1000 rnds through the two with no FTF, FTE at all. At $339 from CDNN, this is almost criminal. Fully supported chamber, 12 + 1 mags, with newer higher capacity mags coming from the factory next year - looks like 15 or 16 + 1...

    Beretta Customer Service

More Firearms Companies need better service - HK, SIG I can relate to your troubles with customer service. My wife is in a customer service industry - sales. It's hard to get repeat business when the manf, or dealer blows you off when problems arise. I would like to state publically that I...

Is there anything the .40 S&W can do that the .45acp can't?

GA - Arms 155 gr 40 My PD load is the +P+ 155 Speer JHP from GA Arms. 1300 fps, 580+ fpe. You can do better with a +P+ 45, but not that much, and in any case, the pills just zipping past the BG ought to incapacitate him, or at least make him change his shorts. The 45 is also SS at that load...

    Beretta CX4 40

Thanks for the CX4 replies You've all been very helpful. I guess my next purchase will be the CX4 40 PX4. I found some 17 rd mags on Houts, so I can pack 68 rounds in 4 mags + 18 in the weapon. That should be sufficient for a really class firefight. The high tech optics look tempting, but...

    Beretta CX4 40

Why not rifle instead of CX4 Carbine? I'm trying to avoid keeping lots of different calibers. For my HD weapons and just plain bug out weapons, I'm not planning on doing any long distance shooting. A 30.06 should take care of the latter nicely. I just want something for 20-100 yards with good...
