I have a rifle I'm building, and it's time to get a finish put on it. Since most of the parts are freshly made they have no finish or prep work done on them. I've been considering using cerakote or a KG product. But, my question is what kind of grit and what things to watch out for while...
Don't forget parts availability. .223 parts are everywhere. And everyone makes 'em. yes .308 parts exists but are harder to find and more expensive. in my opinion.
I use Markron Custom bullet and primer sealer. It goes on kinda like fingernail polish. It works great and is only about $7 at Cabela's. Just seal the seam where the primer was seated and the seam where the bullet was seated, and your done.
They made muskets (actually matchlocks) back then too, and with the proper know how you can manufacture your own ammo. But a day when a gun ban goes into effect is a day I hope I never see, because then some hard choices have to get made. And, in my opinion things may get ugly.
I have a barrel I'm going to pull that is in great condition. I was wondering if anyone had opinions about the best way to store long term? How good is cosmoline? There has to be a reason mil surplus is packed in it. any other suggestions? Would the same technique work for a whole weapon...

I find it not worth the hiding, I just fess up that I want to get one. Although when I was 18 I did hide an SKS in my room for about 2 years before it was found. Needless to say they weren't too happy about that one.
I was wondering what peoples thoughts were toward stainless steel. Does it really make any difference other than corrosion resistance? Thoughts, opinions?
Thanks
I currently have a 26" .308 that I stalk with, and have recently come the conclusion it's too heavy and unwieldy for the terrain I deal with. I'm looking at a 20" barrel on a savage model 10.

This helped me decide that 20" would be plenty for what I...
I've been thinking about something similar. Here's my thoughts. Bell & Carson Medalist stock. Er Shaw barrel in .308 , savage replacement in varmint profile( my goal is different so I'm thinking 20", but you may wish longer). Harris bipod. And for now I'm looking at Mueller Tac 2 Tactical...
