    Chain Fire Really Possible?

Ah ok, thanks for that! Thought I'd maybe done something super dangerous! Yes that's how I did it. I measured 50 grains, was just short of filling to the brim, maybe 1mm short, then rammed the ball on top. Just checked my notes, got me 1171 fps. And yes measured by volume.

    Chain Fire Really Possible?

The hammer is back as it is a long exposure photo. Open the shutter , fire the flash to capture the pistol and then fire the pistol to capture the discharge and then close the shutter. So the exposure of the pistol is actually a second or so before firing the pistol. Hence the hammer being...

That's my Rem in the dark! Loaded with a full charge of pyrodex (50 grains).

    Uberti 1858 chrono results.

I decided to chronograph some loads the other day just for my own information. All I have currently is Pyrodex P so I set my measure for 17grains loaded 5 chambers with it and a .454 ball some cous-cous for filler (can't get cream of wheat over here!) and a wonderwad lit by a Rem No.10 cap...

Picture of 1858 .44 Fired in the Dark

Hi Joe, the nipples are actually the stock Uberti ones. Thought about upgrading but haven't had any problems with them and with a wee bit of copper grease haven't had a stuck one, YET!

Picture of 1858 .44 Fired in the Dark

Thanks fella's! The reason the hammer is back is that to get an exposure including the revolver - not just the pretty flame patterns, I had to fire the flash immediately before firing the pistol and then keeping the shutter open for a further 2 1/2 seconds to capture the flame and also some...

Picture of 1858 .44 Fired in the Dark

After seeing a picture of a Colt being fired in the dark on here somewhere i thought i'd give it a go with my Uberti 1858. I think it turned out ok for a first attempt! Filled the chamber to the top with Pyrodex for maximum flame and squeezed a ball on top set of with Rem no.10 cap. :)

Uberti 1858 Barrel came loose! Advice please.

Thank you very much all for your replies and opinions. Given me much to think about. I decided today i'll deal with it myself after speaking to the dealer i bought it from who then spoke to the importers. The importers asked for it to be sent back so they could threadlock the barrel. So if...

Uberti 1858 Barrel came loose! Advice please.

We have a seperate licence for Shotguns and Firearms (Rifles and B.P. Pistols, not allowed cartridge firing handguns anymore). When we want a particular rifle or BP pistol you have to apply for permission to own it to the Police. You have to specify calibre, type and the reason for owning. Also...

Uberti 1858 Barrel came loose! Advice please.

Arcticap are you saying a barrel thread shouldn't normally have grease on it? Other than this I have no problems with the pistol. The cylinder gap looks good, doesn't appear excessive at all. Doing a search online I read in more than one place that Uberti in particular loctite or epoxy...

Uberti 1858 Barrel came loose! Advice please.

Thanks for the advice fellows. Didn't think of the Teflon tape. It is a stainless steel model. No signs of any cracks. As for sending it back, over here in the UK all firearms are on licence, each one identified by serial number. Sending it back is a headache with the necessary time and...

Uberti 1858 Barrel came loose! Advice please.

Hi all, when drifting the front sight the other day on my (new!) Uberti. The FIRST light tap with a brass punch on the front sight loosened the barrel and it won't now stay tight. :what: I tightened it up to what looked like level and square and put a small witness mark underneath the...

    THR Remington 1858 Club

Thanks for the heads up,I'll bear that in mind! I'm getting a special custom-made sporran holster made for my upcoming haggis hunt. Do you think I'll be a bit undergunned with the .44 against haggis? I think I'll chance it. :)

    Remington PSS .308

That sounds pretty good GunTech, do you have a 20MOA base anyway? What sort of groups are you getting at that distance? The 155 are staying stable?
