What gun for my girlfriend to use while away at work?

In addition to all the questions/concerns above, let me add this. I've thought about this with my wife, as she works from home on some days. Which pistol should she have access to in the quick-access safe should she need it? One of the biggest issues I found with her has to do with hand...

Ruger 10/22 As Home Defense and SHTF rifle

I definitely agree with the others that have suggested throwing a 12-gauge shotgun into the mix. Much better for home defense, and useful for hunting birds or large game (deer). The 10/22 is great for the smaller game and such.

    Why 9mm AR?

I got mine, primarily because my opportunities to shoot my 5.56mm are few and far between. I'm a member of a local range that allows pistols (and pistol caliber carbines), but not rifles. I can rationalize that I needed the 9mm AR-15 to train on a familiar platform, cheaper ammo, etc...but...

Taking Quality Pictures of Long Guns

One simple tip I can give - read the manual for your camera and figure out how to do a 'custom white balance.' Many times on firearms, especially black rifles, they'll come out with an odd color because the auto-white-balance in most digital cameras won't handle a mostly-black subject very...

The Sheer Joy of MOUSE GUNS....

I love the things - I have plenty of 1911's, Glocks, SIGs, and others, but I always gotta have the latest little pocket pistol. A few of mine: Beretta 950 .25ACP: Colt Pony Pocketlite: NAA .22 LR: Rohrbaugh 9mm: Seecamp .32 (I have a .380 as well, but no pictures...

A question for Tripp Research customers

I have a Colt Commander that has the Tripp Research hard chrome finish with brushed flats. Gorgeous finish and it cleans up so easily - the dirt/grime/soot just wipes off with little effort. Mine was done back in 2004. A picture:

Best 9 mm SD Load for a Springfield EMP

I really wonder if +P are a problem for the EMP - I didn't see anywhere in my manual that specifically said no +P for EMP, just a generic, "+P is not recommended for any pistols in the Micro-series" type of comment (and actually, EMP isn't mentioned in the entire manual). Given that they are...

    Springfield EMP Question

I purchased one recently, and mine has been FLAWLESS. I, too, read of all the issues, but it seemed that the initial ones had issues that Springfield quickly fixed. Later ones seemed to be fine right out-of-the-box. Mine is serial number EMP28xx. I've put a good 400+ rounds through mine...

1/2-Hour News Hour makes fun of Gun-Free Zones

It's a relatively new show on Fox. Comedy satire of the news, much like "Weekend Update" on Saturday Night Live. But unlike SNL, which slants Weekend Update with a heavy liberal viewpoint, this show slants it with a conservative viewpoint. Google "1/2 Hour News Hour" on youtube for some...

1/2-Hour News Hour makes fun of Gun-Free Zones

I laughed like crazy - great spoof on criminals and "gun free zones." :)

    G36

My G36 has been flawless, but I know that some of this model pistol have caused headaches for some owners.

My wife needs some concealment options for surveillance in a hot van

I'd go the double-route. Kel-tec or Seecamp in a pocket, and the 640 in either a fanny pack (only worn when outside the van) or hidden in the coffee cup. That way, if she's caught without the coffee cup, she'll still have something physically on her. It's too easy when carrying "off the...

    Sig P250

I can see them coming out with frames that allow a full-sized magazine, and frames that allow a sub-compact/compact sized magazine. Buy one gun, configure it as a 15-round full-sized for the winter months or weekend gaming - then in the summer, swap the frame and use the same pistol as a...

NAA .22LR Mini Revolver -- good for anything?

I enjoy mine, it's just fun to shoot. Certainly not a preferred carry gun, though. But in a pinch, if it's all you can carry, it's better than nothing. I always figure the best tactic would be to pop off a few rounds while fleeing...maybe it'd make your attacker dive for cover giving you...

    Interesting medical condition

I used to get back pain fairly often...never went to anyone special to look at it, but got rid of the wallet in the back pocket and hardly EVER feel back pain any more. Now I stick to pants with many pockets (like 5.11's, no I'm not a mall ninja, I just want the pockets). Keep the wallet in...
