    .308 Scout Rifle

For what it is worth, this topic has been beat to death. Posters either hate the Scout concept or love it and most of those that hate it have never used one or least never spent any time shooting a Steyr, Savage or one of the good clones. A magazine of rounds down the range as far as I am...

Range report, New SBH and SP101 with new shooter.

How you hold the SBH may make the recoil worse. It should be gripped low, some like to curl the pinky under the grip. This also promotes the recoil roll up and back. I found when I gripped it higher on the grip that recoil was punishing.

    Savage scout

Although the Savage Scout has iron sights, they are really back up sights. The stock is not designed for iron sights and one has to scrunch down somewhat on the cheek weld. And that is fine if all of your rifles are similar but most rifles today are designed for use with a scope and to achieve...

    Bob Lee Swagger

I am surprised that no one has mentioned "Spartan," an excellent David Mamet film starring Val Kilmer.

CZ 452 Trainer (.22 LR) vs. Savage Mark II (.22 LR)

Not even close. I have shot both and the Savage trigger is better and maybe more accurate (slightly) but there is no comparison overall. The CZ is a superb rifle and the nicest, most accurate I own, bar none.

CZ LUX stock... does it work?

The Lux stock is excellent for iron sights, particularly a receiver or peep sight. It may be OK for a very low mounted scope. It really depending on your neck, head, etc. configuration. Everyone is different. I like a good check weld myself so I am real picky.

Does Anybody know about the feud between Glock and Portland (Oregon) Police

Long before this incident, Portland Police Bureau had one or more slam-fire (or where the gun was hit with a baton that activated the firing pin) training incidents with, I believe, Glock 19's, 1st Generation, that Glock denied any issues but resulted in one of Glock's silent recalls.

    Rifle length of pull

LOP for shotgun and rifle are different It is longer for shotgun. There is nothing wrong with too short for rifle however. It does sound like your problem though is with comb height.

Your field reports on Savage Scout accuracy?

A scout rifle isn't really about accuracy although I am surprised at the 3 MOA comments. It is about a short, handy, light rifle that has good balance and feel; about taking a quick shot at targets at unknown distances and being able to hit. It is a general rifle. I think there are other...

Your field reports on Savage Scout accuracy?

Mine is MOA with surplus .308. Excellent accuracy. I used John Barsness' recommendation to scrub the barrel with a 100 strokes with a patch over a bore brush with JB Paste and it cleans up beautifully. Excellent rifle at a great price, particularly if you can find them.

    Gunshops in Portland, OR vicinity

For those of you who live in Western Oregon, do you have any recommendations on gunshops. I have been looking for a Kimber and also the new Vaquero and find that a couple shops I have visited in the Eugene?Salem area either don't have what I am looking for or the prices are quite high...

    Another 45 From Ruger?

A couple of days ago, the most recent installment of Jeff Cooper's Commentaries (December) came out with the follwing odd and perplexing comment: And we also note that Ruger now has a couple of new 45 caliber pistols which promise well on the drawing board What does this mean? The...

    Shooting a Revolver

If all of the competition shoots using the same grip then that is find for them. However, I am not a race gun competitor nor do I have any inclinations in that direction. I see a handgun as largely a defensive tool that is also fun to shoot and something that is supremely difficult to master...
