One range employee I talked to said that the waiting period was devastating to gun shops. As he put it, guns are often an impulse buy, and the waiting period gives the old ball and chain a chance to tell you that you can't have it:(
Ever wonder why there is such a lack of good...
I really have to agree with Double Naught Spy on this one.
It comes up a lot. People are always describing the way in which they will defend against multiple attackers busting through the front (or back) door in the middle of the night. The twist that they claim to be (or are) police...
For me it was the Daisy Powerline series. I think I owned two or three of them in all. Looking back I was a pretty good shot with an airgun. I think they are good tools to learn how to shoot as long as they are treated like real guns. I know my beloved 10 pumps would do a little more than sting...
The XD has features that the Glock lacks that I think are very useful, especially if you intend to carry. As mentioned, there is a grip safety that will not allow the slide to come out of battery if not depressed. There is a striker status indicator that can be checked visually and physically...
I found out after I had been shooting for a while that I am left eye dominant and right handed. I also started wearing glasses about a year and a half ago, although I’ve needed them for several years. I’ve always shot right handed and until recently I used my right eye with my left closed...
I was assigned to shipboard security during “Operation Iraqi Freedom†and on numerous occasions in various ports located inside the Gulf I stood armed watch on the pier, at the gate and in a tower. Other than that I was an armed rover, IRT (Initial Response Team) and SAT (Security Alert Team)...
In the Navy, like stated above, gun quals are good for one year. Many people do not have current gun quals and probably won’t get them any time soon. I have to say with a bit of shame that the Navy places very little importance on a sailors ability to effectively use a gun, even if that person...
Chat rooms are not private for the most part. If you are putting sensitive info on a chat board and expect that the info will only be used in the way that you would like then you’re up in the night. Police can sit on a street corner and “monitor†what’s going on if they’ve had reports...
Are you kidding? It would be similar to the horrors that ensued with the AWB sunset. AK-47’s and UZI’s would flood the streets and be sold to kids right from ice cream trucks. Schoolyards would be like shooting galleries for people spray-firing from the hip at 600 rounds a minute, just...
Here in the Navy they are still using the beretta. Haven't heard anything about Glocks or XD's. I like my XD, but I'm not sure they are proven well enough for a large DOD contract.

Also, not to nit pick, but it is more of a single action only. The trigger only releases the striker.
I think you'll be happy. I am convinced after owning an XD that a manual safety is not neccessary. The passive safety features of the XD more than make up for the manual safety.
Before...
For one Springfield doesn't touch the XD. They are the American importer and marketing agent for HS. The XD is known as the HS2000 to everyone outside of the US.
Second, I love my XD as well, but in my opinion it is not a real combat handgun. For example, get your hands nice and sweaty then...
Yes it works. Some people have had to tighten the lips a little, but they still work in the XD-40 even after the adjustment.
