I just bought a Savage 112 in .223 for bench rest as a lefty. I like it. I have a Stainless steel Browning A-bolt in 30-06 for my deer rifle in lefty, that's a nice action.
I have a Mono-pod on my .50 bmg. Not an Accu-shot but I will be putting an accu-shot on my new savage .223. I love shooting from a monopod. Something I am just used to and found that I shoot very well with one. I like the accu-shot too.
When I broke in my .50 I cleaned between shots for the first five then and at shot number ten then at shot number 20. In a new bbl you will have a lot of copper build up. Get a good copper killer like Montana extreme or butches bore shine, also use a carbon remover. Now I clean when I'm done...
How much do you want to spend? Savage makes a target action you can buy. you can also buy a model 110 and sell off the stock... Or you could order a custom job from any of the people who make actions, most do left handers.
George you sure it weighs 31 lbs? My bull barrel Rebel weighs 38 lbs with a 36" bbl. and the same 4 port brake I've had mine apart and most of the weight is in the bbl and action. George why don't you post a few more pic's of yours??? you know the one with the short barrel and the silencer :)
Shilen is good. How about a pre-fit Lothar Walther barrel. I have a Lothar walther on my .50bmg and it shoots very well. I think I wouldn't hesitate to shoot a lothar walther on a savage build.
never did any of that to mine since it shoots under a quarter at 100. But I would get the trigger spring from midway to make it a bit lighter. Since I use mine for hunting I wont cause it's light enough for that. But it would be a good thing to do.
I Shoot a Left hand State Arms Rebel 36" Stainless heavy barrel, bi-pod, and a trigger that breaks like glass.
If I were to buy another .50 I would Have Larry at State Arms build me another. These things shoot amazing and have won many FCSA matches. Best of all prices are reasonable.
I put everything on a note book while I'm at the range, when I get home all my data goes into an excel spread sheet where I can manipulate it there. doing it this way also makes it real easy to see what is going on and it's organized.
A-bolt no questions asked. I love mine and it's precision accurate at 100 yds. groups that can be covered by a quarter. mine is in 30-06 s.s stalker with the synthetic stock. I love mine.
