30 days on FX Gun nation

Its a TV show, keep that in mind. Its a TV show Hence the shotgun, hence the stereotypical redneck owner, hence the conviently appearing woman who wants to buy a new gun at the end of the show who's state mirror's the anti in the beginning. So, we saw an even handed presentation on guns and...

Finally got to shoot my S&W 442

I went through something similar, too, with a Model 38; airweight .38spl with the little wood grips on it. When I first took my new find to the range I had no idea what I was in for. I forced myself to power through the entire 50 round box, and dealt with the same problems you did...

    Short swords

Short Sword, 1d6/1d8, damage type P, versus your long sword, 1d8/1d12 damage type S, much better 'gainst your undead, but nothing beats the flail at 1d6/2d4 type B, unless of course you count the cleric with the flail who can turn the...wait...this isn't that forum, is it? Nevermind, crossed...

Tell us what broke on your Revolver!

A 40+yo S&W M38 that I bought well worn... Within a week, was out of time. Replaced the cylinder stop and spring. I'm hoping for another 40 years of reliable service, but I'll settle for 20. ;)

    browning high power vs 1911

Stock vs. stock, the 1911 safety feels safer than the HP safety. Its a nice, positive "click." On the other hand, if I were going to consider lugging around a full, service sized steel single action gun, I'd consider the Hi-Power SFS. To engage the safety, you push the hammer in. Result...

    Go Sam Alito!

Not quite... Reporters tend to lean towards as the left, liberal view point; however, the edtiors of most major news services tend to be more aligned with rightwing, conservative viewpoints. Reporters write the news, editors allow it out. No matter how biased it may start, the editor has...

Guns your father had when you were growing up

The old man had a 12 gauge Remington Wingmaster and a 39A Marlin. He never hunted much, and I never had interest in it. Unfortuantly, both of them went to my brother, as I'd have liked to have the 39A. Still, all in all, my brother will prolly pass 'em on to his kid. I plan on having none.

How many of you carry a multitool?

Looks like I'm in the minority, as all I've ever carried and all I've ever needed is an old Swiss Army Knife (Vitrionox Engineer, I think). I work in IT, and handle shipping/receiving, installation, and basic system maintenance of a fairly large colocation center and have never once found the...

    Need .22 advice

Browning Buck Mark. Feels far more elegant, and looks far more attractive than the Ruger offering which feels more like an impact wrench than a handgun.

Anyone else have guns they like the look of, but don't like shooting?

My FN Hi-Power. I love everything about it, but it hates me back. Its not even the occaisional bite from the spur, but the utter mauling I receive from the hammer's arm and the top of the tang. A mere 150rds, and I have an actual scar from it. Hopefully, when I replace it with a C&S no...

    .22 RF conversions for 1911.

I looked into this about two years ago, and the Marvel 1 was king of the heap. At the time, Ciener was making the Kimber units, so you would pay extra for the Kimber roll mark. I bought a Ciener Platinum for $200. I couldn't afford the extra $200+ for the Marvel. The Ciener is finicky, but...

Heads up - your cellphone calls are logged and may be sold

Location based services. All new cell phones come with it now, but you can usually turn it off for everything BUT 911 calls, I think. If you don't, someone can always know where you are, and your cell could helpfully point out where you can spend your money, too! The future is now, and ain't...

Thoughts on SW 625 problem - no primer strike on 1 cylinder..

Had a S&W airweight M38 that I purchased used exhibit the exact same problem. Since I had bought it two weeks before I found out about its "issue," I took it back to the store. They sent it to S&W for me and then S&W replaced the cylinder stop and spring and it worked like a champ since.
