Did S&W change their standard revolver grips?

Ok, I guess I'll give the new grips a shot. If I don't like them it looks like I can pick up the Hogue ones pretty cheap: http://www.amazon.com/Hogue-Rubber-Round-Conversion-Monogrip/dp/B000STKJ5Y Anyone know how hard it is to change them out? Is it an easy DIY job?

Did S&W change their standard revolver grips?

I am looking to buy a new 686+ and I am just wondering what kind of grips come on them these days. I always liked the classic hogue rubber grips like this: But on the S&W website the new grips look totally different like this: I searched around but couldn't find any mention of them...

    Can't decide between 4 and 6 inch 357 magnum

Thanks for the link. Sadly, I live in one of the brown "No issue to regular citizens" counties: http://www.calccw.com/Forums/county-faq/7158-county-map-california-ccw-issuance.html

    Can't decide between 4 and 6 inch 357 magnum

I really appreciate all the input on this thread. Sounds like I really can't go wrong with either. I went back to handle both guns side-by-side yesterday and, man, it really makes me just wish I had both! The 4" definitely felt 100% better in my hand and I slightly prefer the look of it...

    Can't decide between 4 and 6 inch 357 magnum

Thanks for all the input guys, I didn't expect so many replies! Still seems pretty close with good points on both sides. I notice many folks saying 6" for hunting, but wouldn't a 44 magnum be better for that? I don't hunt, at all, btw, I just want a nice looking revolver that goes boom and...

    Can't decide between 4 and 6 inch 357 magnum

I know there have been threads before on this, but I still can't decide and am looking for anything to tip the scales one way. I am pretty set on a Smith and Wesson 686P in either 4 or 6 inch. I have shot both and they are both awesome. If I were to only have one handgun I'd go with the 4"...

Cheek Pads - Tac Ops vs Blackhawk IVS?

I should add-- right now I can get the Blackhawk IVS for $27 and free shipping, whereas the best deal I could find on the Tac Ops is $35-40 plus another $5-10 for shipping, making it about $20 more expensive overall.

Cheek Pads - Tac Ops vs Blackhawk IVS?

I'm trying to decide on a cheek rest for my sps varmint. I sort of have it narrowed down to these two. Anyone have opinions which is better? Tac Ops: http://www.tacticalworks.com/Tactical-Operations-Ammo-Cheek-Pad.html Blackhawk IVS...

Cleaning rod length, 40 or 44 inch?

Thanks for the feedback. The problem is I don't have the rifle in my hands yet (still in the 10 day waiting period in CA), but was hoping to get the cleaning rod before then. The bore guide I plan to use measures about 12-13", so maybe add on the 26" for the barrel and that could be just...

Cleaning rod length, 40 or 44 inch?

I am getting a Remington 700 SPS Varmint (26" barrel) and will be using a tipton rapid deluxe bore guide for cleaning. I want to get one of the tipton 1 piece carbon fiber rods. Does anyone know what length would be the best fit? I'm thinking either 40 or 44 inch but not sure which one.
