My old eyes just are not what they used to be so using fixed iron sights is a challenge. I mounted a 1-4 Leupold Pig Plex which did fine with targets out past 50 yds or so but up close, or when needing quick target acquisition is needed it isn't what I'd like.

I've not been reloading long so my first stupid mistake was just last week. I loaded a tray (30 rnds) of .460 with 5 different volumes of powder. I reached for something on the bench and my shirt cuff caught the corner of the tray and I dumped the entire bunch mixing them all. I got to spend...
I'm wanting to load up some 275 gr Barnes XPBs to shoot out of my TC Encore .460 S&W rifle. The Lyman manual suggests something between 46.3-48.2 grains of H-110 (one option for powder) for that bullet. That isn't a lot of variance so I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this...
I am going to side with the folks who are encouraging you to go ahead with the .22. For all the reasons (real or perceived) that have been given. The important thing is to get her started. My wife of 29 years just started shooting pistols a couple of years ago and she just plain doesn't like...
I don't have pictures handy but a few years ago I made a shooting table who's top is in this shape ^^^^^. I used two pieces of scrap 3/4" marine grade plywood laminated together with liquid nails. I also placed 1" drywall screws (counter sunk 1/16") about every 8-10" around the perimeter and...
I was a .460 fan but got tired of the butt woopin I took everytime I pulled the trigger. However, I do believe with the right bullet there are few critters on the planet that you couldn't kill with a .460. I have a .460 barrel for my Encore and it's tack driver. Warning: most .460 factory...
Proposal has been put forth to allow all centerfire calibers .243 or larger...but not until next year.
To the OP, based on your criteria, I'd just wait one more year and buy a 7.62/.308. It would be everything you asked, including readily available ammo.
I keep an old, but functional, Jennings 9mm in my truck. It was cheap and about 2lbs too heavy for anything but sitting under the seat, so if something happens to it I'm not out much. Most importantly it goes bang when I pull the trigger!
I'm not familiar with the .450 SMC round so I did a quick Google search. A stronger 22# spring in mentioned. Would a stock Glock 21 need a heavier spring to shoot these rounds?
Good point! Although I'd prefer to only have to use one, not the entire clip. And, I can afford a couple boxes of new bullets....just not a whole new gun :-)
