I'm wanting to load up some 275 gr Barnes XPBs to shoot out of my TC Encore .460 S&W rifle. The Lyman manual suggests something between 46.3-48.2 grains of H-110 (one option for powder) for that bullet. That isn't a lot of variance so I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this...

Do I need a heavier spring to shoot +P loads? If yes will the 21 cycle properly with a heaver spring installed when shoot standard loads?

Can't speak for all makes but I believe Glocks (chambered for .45acp) will with a simple spring and guide rod change.

Proposal has been put forth to allow all centerfire calibers .243 or larger...but not until next year. To the OP, based on your criteria, I'd just wait one more year and buy a 7.62/.308. It would be everything you asked, including readily available ammo.

I keep an old, but functional, Jennings 9mm in my truck. It was cheap and about 2lbs too heavy for anything but sitting under the seat, so if something happens to it I'm not out much. Most importantly it goes bang when I pull the trigger!

I'm not familiar with the .450 SMC round so I did a quick Google search. A stronger 22# spring in mentioned. Would a stock Glock 21 need a heavier spring to shoot these rounds?

Good point! Although I'd prefer to only have to use one, not the entire clip. And, I can afford a couple boxes of new bullets....just not a whole new gun :-)
