I have 2 Lyman M-5s recalibrated 1 & they `re both spot on with check weights. The smaller scales work for most tasks, but the smoothness of the M-5s is unparalleled.
Now I have an old set of WEBSTER W2 scales that sit on real knives , these weigh dust that settles in em !!!!!
Down side is they...
A set of calipers before loading will help tell the tale , you`ll be surprised at the differences, I trim my revolver brass (1 of the not so enjoyable tasks of reloading) some tools make it go fast though, but ya still have to find the "short batch" so it`all will be the same.
If a batch is...
I tried pushing a xtp fast out of a contender 16" barrel & found the accuracy started going south at 1450 fps, I think the bases of the bullet was distorted from pressure or the twist take your pick.
Anyways we found the xtps when going fast would not perform well when hitting a heavy bone ...
I answered yes ,but load in mag cases , anything from 750 fps WC`s to 190 gr lead rnfp
Brass cases only, preferably Starline, WW or fed in that order.
But I shoot a lot more slower (less recoil) rounds than the rest combined .
Wrench turnin has taken it`s toll on my hands.

WW 231 has a very sharp pressure curve , it burns qwik compared to say 2400 which has a longer curve , it burns the whole length of the barrel & then some, making more fps at a lower & longer pressure curve.
One thing to consider when loading lead bullets is the length of the bearing surface...
Look on Hodgdons sight under reduced loads, there`s a rifle & shotgun section.
I think the powder used is IMR 4895
My bad it`s H4895 IMR is very similar & flexable .
Here`s the link to IMR 4895 data , the reduced loads use 60% of published H4895 data...
I had a mold for 44 & the gc shank was a bit small , after installing a copper check you could spin it , the aluminum check has crinkles on it`s edges & when installed they seemed titer & recovered boolits from the berm had all the aluminum 1s still on .
What affects fit s shank size &...
I go +/ - 3% on handgun boolits , rifle I get pickier. Also with hunting ammo I get titer with tolerances with the handgun boolits.
But as 243wxb posted , the very first thing I check after they drop from the mold is dia. & since sluggin the bores of my rifles I even check the dia. of store...
Some don`t , I do, have`nt had a problem yet .
BUT, If you work with max loads its a good practice to back off & work up again with the new LOT of powder.
Early cases were different , let`s say the mid 60s (WAG) the heads of the 38spc mite have even been the ole ballon style with the +p being solid with 357s being even more reinforced.
Modern day, lets say mid 80s to present is probably the same strength , as manufacturing process of the...
I can do ALOT with a 30-06, from lead cat sneeze loads to rompin-stompin 220gr jacketed loads. Brass is everywhere & 30 caliber bullets & lead molds abound.
If a 30-06 won`t do what I need my next caliber of choice is a 458 WIN MAG

Set the tumbler on the bench next to your press & see what happens , also an extra teaspoon of powdered graphite per lb. won`t hurt a thing , just mix well !
I use any large flaked powder this way & found no ill affects of the graphite. I also use the Lee auto disc exclusively for handgun...
Since having my throats sized exactly the same & the cones cut & polished . NO thread choke . My GPs seem to like lead better than ever .
I push my 8bhn wadcutters to 900 fps , all I have to do is wipe powder residue off , bores are shiney NO leading NONE.
Boolits .0015" over throat size...
