    Remington 870 question

Ya I don't understand why the code on the barrel is used to date code the gun when they can and were swapped out over the years on many guns. The serial number on the receiver is 91x6xxV. It's a beautiful gun that I bought to replace an 870 express I bought and used for a year and sold...

    Remington 870 question

Hello everyone, I just bought 870 Wingmaster TP at a local gun show today. It looks as though it's been used but we'll cared for. Like all guns I own I like to find the age of the gun when I get home but for the life of me I cannot figure this one out. I've looked on the Web and found that the...

    "Humpback" question

Has anyone ever decoded how to tell age of the Remington model 11 shotguns as well as the Savage 720's?

    Going Rate for an A5

WAY to high for that condition in Iowa money. I just spent Saturday afternoon at a gun show here and saw them priced at $575 or less. Rough ones like what described are in the $250 to $350 range around here. I'd walk away from that deal in a hurry.

    Savage 720?

Hey everyone I've been a big fan of the old "humpback" Browning A5's ever since my father in-law gave me his 1928 Light 12. So today I went to a local gun show and found what I think is a perfect example of Savage 720 16 ga. The bluing and furniture are in almost as new condition. Has anyone...

    Browning A5 age

Alright so that's cool. Mine was made the year I was born so that makes it pretty special to me. As for my father in-laws is there anything special about it compared to mine? Should I treat it any different? Meaning, shoot different shells through it then I do mine? The only difference I've...

    Browning A5 age

Alright guys either my ADHD is kicking in strong tonight or I am just not smart enough to figure out the online guide to verifying the age of my A5's. I have two currently, one that I bought after shooting my father in-laws and then my father in-laws gun that he passed down to my son a year or...

Estimate on Browning A5 Light 12 value

    I just bought a light 12 a few months ago for $475 out the door. I call mine a 80 to 85%.

    Iver Johnson question

Here's another question? I've read on a Facebook gun for sale page that a guy has a serial number 80,xxx and he said his shot gun was a very early 1909-1919 gun. My gun has serial number 42,xxx so I assume that makes mine even earlier then that one. Are there any Iver Johnson experts on here or...

    Iver Johnson question

Holy cow if that's correct info then this gun was made between 1909 and 1919. I guess that might make sense since the 16 ga. model 12 Winchester I got as well was made in 1919. Should I be using this .410 with today's loads or do I run the risk of damaging the gun?

    Iver Johnson question

I inherited an old Iver Johnson .410 single shot. This this thing look horrible but the bore is good and shoots great. My son is deadly accurate with it while shooting trap. Is there anywhere online I can find a serial number break down to figure out how old it is? I've looked but have come up...

    Shotgun experts step on in.

An exercise in frustration.....LOL! Very true. Amazingly enough I didn't do to bad with it but I do realize that this is not the gun for trap. I did have a brother in-law with me that had an A5 Magnum 12 that has torn his down multiple times. He did a quick barrel removal and he noticed the...

    Shotgun experts step on in.

Ya I knew they weren't going to be good for trap shooting it was just the first chance I have had to use them since I purchased them last Fall. As for the dry fire I guess I mean it would fire a shell then eject that shell through the pump action the next shell would either fire when I pulled...

    Shotgun experts step on in.

I have finally gotten time to trap shoot with a couple guns I bought last Fall. First one is a Coast to Coast Hardware .410 pump that I've found is a Mossberg model 500. When it does fire it shoots pretty well but after running 2 or 3 boxes of Remington brand shells through it I was having...

    Browning Light 12

One of my sons is going to inherit a Browning Light 12 shotgun from my father in-law which is great but what can anyone here tell me about the gun. My father in-law says the S/N on the gun is #64481. I'm just trying to figure out roughly what the age might be and a little history on the gun...
