Is it just me, am I paranoid?

15 rounds? You should always have at least one spare magazine for any auto pistol. The most common cause of automatic pistols failing is the magazine. Yes, you're paranoid. Not that a touch of paranoia isn't healthy. Most of those people are too wrapped up in their own life to spare a thought...

Does it bother anyone to see a nice firearm neglected?

The squeamish should stop reading now. You were warned. Neglect is one thing. My old local gun shop when I lived in Massachusetts had a Purdey double barrel that had been stolen and had the barrels chopped to about 10 inches and had the stock bobbed. The gun had beautiful, burled wood but it...

    Oldest rifle you currently own!

Flobert parlor gun, .22 CB cap rolling block. No way to date it, but pre-1889 for certain. May be as old as 1845. 1906 Amberg Gew98, 2 digit serial number. Re-arsenaled between the wars and no import marks. G.I. bring back from it's second world war. 1943 Tula Mosin Nagant 1944 M1 Garand

    Hiding spots for firearms

Perfect use for a Raven, Jennings, Davis, Bryco, Lorcin, Phoenix, Cobra, etc. Snip a bit off the firing pin and voila, decoy. In my more tinfoil-hat moments I always thought that up inside the cavity of a wall hung cast iron sink would be a good place to hide a small revolver.

    New version of lead poisoning

20 years ago I was very much into miniature wargaming, Napoleonics, modern micro armor, modern naval miniatures. I used to file flat the bases of miniatures and scrape off flashing with an exacto knife and blow the lead dust away. I thought nothing to of eating lunch or dinner on my workbench...

    Western Field Takedown 12ga

I've got two, one I bought for $100, refinished. The other I bought untouched for $75, intending to use it for parts. The refinished gun I sent out to my gunsmith and had the barrel chopped at 20". Now it is a truck gun that fits in a takedown .22 case. The only snag is that ejection is not...

Mossberg 500 Shotgun Disassembly Guide by Mini-Me

Excellent thread. I really enjoyed the pics with Mini-Me. One criticism, a Mossberg 500 safety is supposed to have a ball bearing. It's easy to lose during a detail strip. Looks like yours has gone walkabout. Brownells has them for sale.

    Can't load 7 in a 7+1 shotgun

Yeah, but there's one less BOOM. And that can make a difference.

    I have this old shotgun

That is the exact solution to the same problem I had with an old Mossberg Goose Gun. I'd go ahead. BTW, I just bought 2 Western Field shotguns that were Stevens 520 shotguns. One to use, one for parts, just in case.

Monster Hunter Legion out today, and book tour dates

Got to meet Larry in Willow Grove a couple of days ago. He's a good guy. Very funny and signed EVERY SINGLE BOOK the store had on hand. Much to the store manager's surprise. Monster Hunter Legion is fast paced and good entertainment. (I see MYSTEEEEEERIOUS forces moving pawns into position...

Do You Think I Handled This Correctly?

Hysterical! Use a knife or bat in self defense in the wrong state and you'll get charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

What NOT to do with a muzzleloader

Naval gun carriages are not meant to be used in the field.

queston for the police about civilian carry

I got pulled over for speeding with my OC gun on the dashboard, as Delaware law requires. Aside from putting my hands on my knees instead of at 10 and 2 o'clock on the wheel, nothing changed. Of course, I had pulled over, shut off my truck and had my flashers on with the window rolled down...
