Norinco 1911A1 - Failure to extract ... new Extractor?

Without consideration of an extra-long ejector, here's Wilson's detailed advice concerning the extractor. http://blog.wilsoncombat.com/uncategorized/checking/checking-the-extractor-tension-on-your-1911/ Better yet, a discussion from Bob Londgrian, including the ejector...

Please review - No Guns Response Letter

If you ask me, having too many precision machined pieces of equipment and accessories is often cause for not being mildly affluent. Myself included.

Eric Holder: We need to "brain wash people..."

What we should be wary of is this administration (if it lasts beyond November) entering into UN agreements concerning gun controls without Senate debate. The real "brainwashing" will be applied to our leaders (Hillary, for one) and occur at the global level with total disregard for national...

    Perplexing malfunction, Kimber 1911

I may be way off but recall threads about Kimber failure to feed before. Seems that Kimber had a run of slide releases with a mis-shapened "bud" which somehow during recoil dynamics activated the slide stop on the second to last round. Pretty sure a further "search" will point you to the...

For those who carry 380 ACP...

Depending upon the evening's clothing, one or the other works just fine. But if you ask me, the Colt Mustang is probably the finest little mouse-gun ever made with respect to materials, fit and finish. Particularly if you're a 1911 worshiper. Same ergonomics, same controls, same single action...

Bullet penetration...."Eight inches, which isn't good."

If we concede that the High Road is the finest of all guntalk sites, then every other gun blog on the web goes thru the same debate, day after day after day. Is the .380 enough? Does the .380 have what it takes? So thanks to ApacheCoTodd for bringing some perspective to the same old...

My pocket holster needs to stay in my pocket. Any advice?

If you ask me, you may want to reconsider packing in the front pocket. In most "stick-em-up" scenarios one might consider compliantly presenting your favorite pistol from the back pocket ... your wallet pocket. Makes perfect sense to me, and without all of the problems associated with the...

    Extended Slide Release on 1911

Technically called the slide stop, I would rather call it the slide release, because that's what you use it for. I have rather smallish hands and wouldn't be without the extended slide release. All of this talk about malfunctions is pure baloney, and using the off-hand thumb to engage the...

2+ Years of Colt Concealed Carry

That's a pretty little pistol, doc. Bobbed hammer, nice wood, beautiful blue, but not familiar with the 'D' frame. And let me guess ... .357?

History Channel's "Top Shot" on Sunday night

My youngest son lives in Ocala. Florida and says that Cowboy Denny spends his days in the local gun shop signing autographs. What a hoot.

    1911 sights

Looks to me, skipsan, that the URL you provided for the Springfield rear sight requires a Novak cut (specific milling) for installation. Of course your particular pistol, tggdeer, may already have a Novak cut. Can you tell? My guess is that in order to get a satisfactory adjustable rear...

    My first 1911

If you ask me, you're not a basher, Joe, you just know what you're looking at. Kimber HAS gone down hill ... and fast. When Kimber first debutted they had some fine weaponry, but now just lay a Kimber and a Colt (or a RAI, or most any other brand) side by side and you can see and feel the...

what pistol does your wife carry concealed?

Got lucky enough to find her a pre-war Smith & Wesson HE .32 Long. Its a dandy little six shot in the S&W "I" frame. Light and amazingly accurate. Just lays in her purse like nobody's business.
