Anyone else thinks that manual safeties go on the frame?

If a semi auto doesn't have a manual safety I won't carry it. I prefer slide mounted ambidextrous decocker/safeties as it helps me grip the slide better with my arthritic hands. For shooting, frame mounted safeties are a little more convenient but you train for what you carry.

    Jerry Miculek Shooting the Governor

I thought this was interesting. Jerry Miculek shooting the S&W Governor at steel plates and then at ballistic jel. Looks like a very viable weapon for close range work.

    S&W Governor?

I wanted a .45Colt/.45acp DA revolver to accompany my Ruger Blackhawk convertible. At the time the Ruger Redhawk was not available so I bought the Governor. It looks ungainly and clunky but it shoots well and with the scandium frame the weight feels good to me. I haven't needed it for snakes...

    Badman Bullets?

I bought a couple of sample packs from Badman Bullets to reload .45Colt. There are only 25 bullets in a sample so I don't have a lot of experience with them but I like them. I would like to order more but looking at their website it looks like they are out of stock on most everything. Like...

Help me decide on a .45 ACP revolver

Did anyone mention the Ruger Redhawk in .45Colt and .45acp? It looks like another good option. I've had .45acp ammo that would not feed in any of my autos and would not headspace properly in my Ruger Blackhawk so I loaded them in moonclips for my S&W Governor and it ate em right up. There is...

    .45acp/255gr Hardcast

At 67 years of age I'm learning stuff all the time thanks to forums like this. I never would have thought about shooting 255gr hardcast bullets in .45acp until I heard about the .45 Cowboy Special rounds.

    .45acp/255gr Hardcast

    1. None of my .45 autos function very well with hardcast lead swc. 2. My arthritic knees make it hard for me to crawl around in the dirt picking up brass. With a revolver I can dump the brass right at my feet or in a bucket. 3.My arthritic hands have a hard time working most semi auto slides. 4...

    .45acp/255gr Hardcast

I like shooting 45acp with my Blackhawk because it's much quicker to eject the empties. I've watched YouTube videos of people shooting .45 Cowboy Special loaded with 255gr bullets. I guess what I really want is to replicate .45 Cowboy Special loads without buying .45 Special Cowboy brass...

Wet tumbling, I have a question or two.

Even with rinsing and using magnets I would still find pins stuck inside the cases so I quit using the pins. I use water, detergent, and LemiShine. I've used cold and hot water and it doesn't seem to make much difference. I wash the brass before running the brass through the deprimer/sizing...

    .45acp/255gr Hardcast

DoubleTap and BuffaloBore make 255gr 45acp +p loads I would like to try making my own but not as hot. I can find plenty of data for 200gr bullets but just wanted to try some heavier bullets.

    .45acp/255gr Hardcast

I would like to load 255gr hardcast bullets in .45acp for my Blackhawk convertible. I can't find any load data in any of my manuals. Where can I find the load data?

Where to get Blackhawk cylinder throats reamed?

I just recently rented the reamer from 4D Rentals for my .45 Blackhawk convertible. There are videos on YouTube that show you how to do it. Also, on the rugerforum.net in their elibrary where Iowegan explains how to do it. He suggests using a .45colt case as a pilot but I ended up using the...

"Judge" owners I need your thoughts..

Shooting .45 Colt at steel plates I'm almost as accurate with my Governor as I am with my Ruger Blackhawk. That might not say much about my shooting but the Governor is plenty accurate for me.

"Judge" owners I need your thoughts..

Around here we have more owls than woodpeckers and the woodpeckers don't pay any attention to them. I don't think a fake owl would do any good.

"Judge" owners I need your thoughts..

A woodpecker hammering on your house or metal chimney sounds like a jackhammer. As 460Kodiak stated they like to do it very early in the morning. It is very annoying. I have a couple of woodpecker holes in my gables big enough for a bird to get into the attic. They just don't give up.
