If you're open to other options, you might want to consider a K-31. Accuracy is generally very good, slick straight-pull action. And I've never seen a bad bore.
The main down side is that ammunition isn't as cheap and readily available.
I don't know how much of a premium it adds to the price, but the Target Grey finish was fairly rare. I was told it was a limited run done for Lipsey's, with 1,017 made.

Sorry, not mine - I saw the pic on another forum.
I'm looking into an AR-15 SBR some time this year, but I doubt I'd chance someone having a sense of humor.
It would definitely bother me. It would have to be cheap enough that it would cover the cost to refinish it.
I passed over an otherwise-nice K-38 that had the initials "J.W." scratched into the finish with what must have been a nail.
I don't know, could be. My friend's rifle seemed to have a very tight chamber. It was very accurate but way too finicky. It eventually had an out-of-battery situation that wrecked it. Armalite replaced the rifle, but it was immediately traded on something else.
A friend's Armalite AR-10 had similar problems. No stuck cases, but it had trouble chambering several types of ammo. I think he eventually found Black Hills match ammo worked best.
