Ruger M77 Tang Safety Sub-Moa Accuracy

I bought my Ruger M77, 6mm Remington in 1969. S/N is 70-05419. Ruger was suppose to use Douglas barrels pre 1971 and the flat bolt pre 1973. In theory the M77 in this date range has a higher price range, but I am not sure why. This is a nice rifle and it does shoot 1" to 1-1/2" groups all day...

I'd like to know how your pistol cycled with only the primer. What primer were you using ?

    new gun ban ?

I've just been reading that there seems to be interest in reinstating the assault rifle/high capacity magazine ban. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/01/16/schumer-require-military-report-applicants-drug-use-prevent-gun-purchases/ How much support do you think this will generate ?

    10 mm or .45 ACP?

    Heavy 357 Magnum Ammo - 180 gr. L.F.N. -G.C. (1,400fps/M.E. 783 ft. lbs.) I'd pick a .357 magnum over either a .45acp, or 10mm.

I would like to start reloading for .357

For .357 magnum I would not get the three staion Lee Classic Turret. I would get the four station Lee Classic Turret kit. .357 magnum needs a good tight roll crimp ... at least my .357 magnum loads do. The Lee Factory Crimp Die fits into the fourth slot and saves me a bunch of time in the...

Courtesy/Guilt of buying from the local store vs. online

DEAHEAT wrote: Hmmmmm Perhaps. A few of years ago my son borrowed my WWII P-38 to take to the range. He brought it back without a gas piston in it ... the retaining spring had broken and the piston went missing. I took the pistol to my gun shop. The owner looked at it and said he would...

Courtesy/Guilt of buying from the local store vs. online

I recall a lot of my friends buying those cheaper foreign made goods. The funny thing was they also wanted raises, more money, so they could buy even more of those foreign made goods. Today many of them are out of work. The job is no longer in this country. I mostly see foreign made goods in...

    m1 30 carbine purchase advice

I do not get terribly shook up over $800 for the Underwood. As I recall the Underwoods were $575 a few years ago at CMP. I bought one then. Fun shooting little carbine. At that time I reading how some folks were buying Inlands for $700-$800 at pawn shops. If it is in good shape, and not an...

Squib, bullet stuck in barrel, etc be honest

Though I must say it occured while using a progressive press. I've switched to the Lee Classic Turret press and not had a repeat of the blunder. I reckon I do not do well trying to view four operations at one time. I am more comfortable, and accurate, one step at a time.

    .357, .41, .44 Opinion

I'd pick the S&W 329PD, .44 magnum, simply because it is light weight, 6 shot, .44 magnum revolver. I reload 200 grain Gold Dots for it at low end power (1050-1150 fps). When I carry it, I carry Buffalo Bore Heavy .44 Special, 185 grain JHC at 1150 fps. I also have used Speer Short Barrel 200...

    marlin 1894c .357 magnum vs 16" AR-15 .223 rem.

Since you referenced neighborhood/home defense I would not pick the lever gun. Reloads are very slow and cumbersome. The first ten will be fairly fast, but the next ten will be horribly slow. Magazine feed is definately faster than tube feed and would be my choice in a shooting war.

    M&p 340

Lipsey shows a price of $1272 for the M&P 340 CT. Only one dealer in my area has this model in stock. S&W replied in an email that only 10 of these are manufactured each month. I do not see many dealers getting these too often. I located one gun shop in a neighboring town that has the M&P 340...
