Forget the 5 shot self defense!

It's where I work and am required to live in state. Retirement in 2-1/2 years though and then maybe on to a more gun friendly state. BTW, I used to live in Birmingham when my father worked for GM and my sister lives in Grosse Point.

    Bought my FIRST PLASTIC GUN!

The Walther is a decent pistol, but don't doubt the Glocks. Their claim to fame is not their looks, it's their uncompromised reliability.

Forget the 5 shot self defense!

Agreed, a Glock with at least one extra mag is always a good idea anywhere. I prefer the Glock 23, but a 19 is an excellent choice.

    Glock questions

Use each pistol as it was manufactured to be used. 9mm in a 9mm pistol, .40 in a .40 pistol. Conversion barrels and the like can be done, but buying a new pistol in the caliber you desire is not the cheapest way to go, but certainly the best. Better to spend a bit more to get what you want then...

What do you keep on the nightstand?

Glock 23 Gen 4 chambered with Federal HST 180 grain. No children in the house so it's right in my night stand.

    Ruger LCP frame cracked

The LCP is my primary carry weapon and it has been great. Got even better when I replaced the stock recoil spring with a stronger one. No more FTFs. Stay away from hot loads in tiny guns, they're not designed for that. One of the top performers in .380 time and time again is the Federal Hydrashok.

Help choosing gun for concealed carry

For carry purposes, it doesn't get any better than a Ruger LCP. Fits right in a pocket, weighs next to nothing and is not easily seen. The new "baby" Glocks are nice, but they are too small and too big at the same time. Too big for summer carry compared to a LCP and too small for much fun at the...

I never thought this would happen to me.

For general concealed carry in all weather, I prefer my LCP in Desantis pocket holster. In cooler weather, I carry my Glocks in a Blackhawk CQB.
