    Who uses LEE?

Lots Lee stuff on my bench, still use the hand primer after many years, about 8 sets of dies, 8 of "other" brands...I have no issues with them. My old Lee single stage aluminum press is relegated to a decapping station for mil. brass (crimped primers and volume) have upgraded a few items over...

Start Up Gunsmithing Shop Best vs Basic set up

I have mulled this over myself many times. Gunsmith/gunshop owner friend of mine put it simple, "you want to make a million dollars in the gun business?...easy...start with 2 million". It is a tough business, reputation and service is everything. The best 'smiths and shops near me are very...

How many times do you reload different brass

Most of my loads are for plinking, so pretty moderate loads for me also. I have some .223 that have 10 loadings. I have a batch of .308 on #8. I have some Garand only .30-06 brass that is on 5 or 6 loadings. I case check and trim when needed, you need to know what to look for and the signs...

    I need a better die....

I have gotten into the habit of dissassembling my dies every few hundred rounds or so and cleaning them. It is amazing how much garbage accumalates in them. They work very smooth afterwards. I have noticed on Lee dies ( I have a mix of all the brands) the finish is a little rougher. When new...

    Shooting out a boresnake brush?

I got a busted .30 cal boresnake out of a barrel using a packing puller. Everyone seems to want to beat it through. I would try to pull it, .22 is a bit small but not impossible to make up a jig with a LONG sub .22 cal screw on a rod and pull it out. I was able to do the same roughly with...

    Identify this rifle?

I will 2nd that....the wood and hardware look very good. I don't see import marks on the side shown....if it doesn't have any import marks that adds to the asking price (pre 1968 import or possible GI bringback) in my book. Very nice.

    blacklisted gunsmith in Az

Quoted for truth. It has been my observation that people who have also taken the risks and dove in starting their own small business in their field of expertise also tend to have a strong "type A" personality. It can be hard for a so called alpha dog to swallow their pride and grin and...

    Tumble after loading???

I tumble after to remove lube. Done it with 1000's of dirty surplus over the years also. Wiping them down would work....but when I am making 100's at a time, that isn't happening. Of course the manufacturers are going to say don't tumble, they have to protect themselves from any...

    S & B brass- hard to decap!

I have had good longevity out of S&B brass, primer pockets have always been a hassle. I segregate them and deprime on my Lee Universal decapper, then run through the swager. Do it once and never have to do it again.

Has anyone recieved PM from mils re: french media?

I don't know....I would feel him out. If he is a foreign journalist he already has more credibility that the ones we have here. As far as objectivity, the foreign press has ours beat by a mile, it may be worth giving him the benefit of the doubt. Ever read or watch other countries news? It is...

    Firearm smells awful

Ozone?...O3?....really? Ozone is an oxidizer and if you don't want to turn it into a sewer pipe with a wooden stock, keep ozone, bleach or any other oxidizer away from it.

"Buy Once, Cry Once" I don't get it.

The saying I use most often is probably, "Buy cheap...Buy twice". Most often comes true on tools and optics, I try to stick to high quality and US made as much as possible myself.

    SAvage 250 with cracked barrel

That is the old trick engineers would use to find cracks in machinery, they would coat it with chalk also...the crack would be outlined by the oil/gas and soak the chalk. You could also see if you could find a can of dye penetrant, you spray it on a suspect part with a crack, and it shows the...

    Gun show, decline in quality?

I feel pretty lucky here in Pennsylvania, our shows have always been pretty good. The Oaks show, Harrisburg, and Lebanon are some of the bigger ones. Even the little 100-200 table ones aren't that bad. Travelling to other states, I don't think VA is to bad either, TN I went to a small one which...
