    Comparison: Python vs Anaconda?

Love my Anaconda and wouldn't trade it for anything. I have had mine for 15 years and I've ran a lot of lot of max rounds through it without a single issue. The trigger on it out of the box was as good if not better then the the one on my Springfield match 1911. In MHO it's the only 44 worth...

Idaho wants public input on plan to kill wolves

I had already bought my tag for this year when I picked up my Deer and Elk Tags; I don't know how I can make it any clearer how I stand on the wolf debate. I knew when they started introducing them that it would be just a matter of time before we would have something else to hunt. You can't...

.44 Mag too Weak for Black Bear in Oregon?

Maybe the bullet bounced off or just maybe the homeowner was amped up on adrenaline and grazed the bear or he missed entirely. I have been there with a bear running in on me and it was a rush. When it happened to me I wasn't even thinking about the bear attacking me I was worried that it would...

.44 Mag too Weak for Black Bear in Oregon?

Evergreen, You can tell your friend that he's full of it. Here is a 6-1/2 footer I took in Island Park with a Colt Anaconda in 44 mag using a 240 grs. JHP bullet that was driven with 23.4 grs. of H110 for a velocity of 1366 fps. I was archery hunting and had just sit down and let out a...

    Primers - Caution

Yurko, The CCI450 is the preferred primmer for the AR15 over the CCI400 because of thickness of the metal can withstand higher pressures. With that said the 400 works well for most folks.

223 Federal Brass - Loose primer pockets ?

My reloads run in the neighborhood of 52,000 psi and I have seen loose primer pockets after 10-15 reloads with LC brass, but I have also encountered loose primer pockets after as few as 4 reloads. I suspect the variation may depend upon how aggressive the primer pocket was swagged. In the past...

223 Federal Brass - Loose primer pockets ?

I couldn't help notice that Steve is using CCI400 primers and those primers are only good below 52,000 psi. I found that out with the Remington 6.5 primers I got stuck with. If he hasn't ruptured a primer like Snuffy did then his pressures could not have been excessive.

    Remington 6.5 small rifle primers

SteveW-II. The same thing happened to me too, but at small mom and pop gun shop but I ended up with 4,000 primers. Now I have read all the threads and seen all the horror pictures and here is what I have found to be true. The Remington 6.5 will work for any load that calls for a small rife...

Thread for physical conditioning for elk season?

+! for that. I have hunted from 6000 to 9000 feet and key is not to be in a rush.

    Lock-N-Load Low Primer Detector?

metalax, Yes it works great. My best friend spotted one of those on eBay for $6.00 + $3.00 shipping a few years back and bought it for me. All I did was use two o-rings; one on the primer tube housing to maintain the space offset by the clamp and a second o-ring to hold the whole assembly...

    .44 Magnum VS .44 Magnum

Which ever you are the better shot with the one you need to take. I took my black bear at 30 yds with my Colt Python during archery season in Island Park, Idaho. I had just given a calf call when I caught him coming in on a dead run straight to me. I still cocked the gun before I fired so I...

"positive return mechanism"?? Seen on dillon and Lee but not hornady?

IMO this is a solution looking for a problem. I have been using the RCBS case activated linkage, it is the same design as the one that came with my Hornady L-n-L, for over 12 years without a single instance of it not returning once it drops its charge. I bought it to replace the hokey Lee...

Low Charge Weight Velocity & Cycling Test

Walkalong, Nice tests and according to your results what happened to me 18 years ago should not have been possible. Unfortunately, now after reading your results I have no clue why it happened, I always thought it was a squib load that missed a powder charge. The gun was an all steel...
