What do you use for your home defense ?

Los Angeles gun roundup gets only one gun

Typical make-it-sound-sexy-for-the-paper situation. I couldn't believe the press release that came over my desk last week. Ottawa, Canada Guns& Gangs squad claimed that during a raid they had recovered a "fully loaded automatic machine gun". Now that's likely coming from the guy who writes...

    Vietnam-what would you carry?

preferably a passport and wad of cash instead of a draft card. Oh right - Para-Ord double stack .45 with C7A2 rifle.

I get a laugh out of "Desert Tan"

Desert Tan was never an issue when guns were made out of metal and steel. To me it's akin to putting racing stripes on a 1911.

    22 long rifle ammo?

Stay away from Remington - Thunderbolts are garbage. Winchester or Federal's a better bet.

Anyone else think the .22 is a good all-purpose round?

I certainly wasn't saying I would willingly target an animal of a size I knew couldn't be put down humanely with the round, rather, I meant that if I had nothing else to use for PROTECTION, then I would rather carry a .22 than a broken beer bottle. No offence, but touchy people here, and I don't...

Just got bit by the airgun bug

That's a classy looking rig, but what's the use of a pneumatic pistol - those things only drive a .177 at 500fps or less; too weak to do much. There is some power behind those spring-piston long guns, though, especially from RWS and Beeman. They're heavy and expensive, but exceptionally well...

Anyone else think the .22 is a good all-purpose round?

It's funny how some people have the "yeah you can kill something with a .22long rifle....if you're damn lucky!' attitude. Well, I guess a lot of people are being killed by one-in-a-million shots, because last time I checked, the .22lr was the most dealiest calibre (statistically speaking) in the...

    Best/worst Gun AUTHORS (of fiction)

Stephen King is the worst - he can't get even the simplest things right. There are characters pumping double barrelled shotguns, carrying .38 special automatics, etc, etc. Dean Koontz is the best however - the detail and accuracy in his character's weapons is uncanny.

Every owner of a semi-automatic or handgun is a potential terrorist!

This flake isn't a representative of MY Canada! If you've never lived in Canada, here's some essential information: Many Canadians own guns, BUT, the country (and the media especially) is essentially run by far left 'important issue' types left over from the idealistic Liberal 1970's who have...

    Paranoid or Prepared

Yeah, Canada's to blame. Hey - try going up there and buying a gun. It's not like bringing home a bag of oranges from the store. Besides, if any of our criminals go down there, even if they're innocent, you'll just deport them to Syria, then the Canadian governemnt has to waste millions of MY...

    Beer at Gun Club

It should be as simple as: You can drink, but you can't go back on the range. And you can't get drunk.

    This Makes Me Angry

I think he shouldn't be let off easy - if I had been next door I might have spilled my drink! Kidding aside, now one has ever been CALMED by sudden nighttime bursts of semi-automatic gunfire coming from outside their house. That the kid didn't think far enough ahead to realize he'd get in...

    Ithaca 37 questions

to Marine71 Home defence? Winchester Super X, 2 3/4" 00 Buck, 12 pellets. Surprisingly wide spread, even out of my 28-inch barrel. The other 2 3/4" loads, both 00 and 000, cluster too tightly, which isn't what you want in close quarters. You might even want to go with a smaller shot size...
