    Just had a friend give me an 1877 .38 colt lightning. Here is my problem. It had a broken trigger spring which I replaced and cleaned things up a bit. The sear does not engage the hammer, thus no safety cock, half cock, etc... I have since taken her apart again to investigate, but to no avail...

    Just had a friend give me a .38 colt lightning w/ a broken trigger spring. I took it apart, bought a new spring, cleaned it up a bit and put it back together. Here is my problem... the sear will not engage the hammer,thus no safety cock, half cock,etc.... The trigger pulls fine and brings back...
