Lost Sheep, RCModel.. Thank You!! Strain screw was about 1 1/2 turns out. tightened it down and no misfires. Increased the weight on the trigger a bit but no misfires. My wife is going to use this gun for her CCW class, and I was a bit concerned, but it appears good to go. We will put 100...
The LCP is not a gun to love to shoot, but it is accurate and very reliable. I shot a Pocket Pistol action shooting match with mine on Sat. 80 rounds, followed by 50 more at the range, not hiccups at all. I think I am up to 600 though the gun with not one issue.
When I first started priming, I was actually denting the primers, so I backed off a bit. I will load another test batch and make sure the primers are set deeply enough.
The model 67 was Dads and is about 40 years old. The trigger is very smooth and I was concerned that It might not be hitting...
I reloaded about 20 .38 reloads and had multiple misfires. I am shooting them in a S&W model 67 with a pretty light trigger. I was thinking light primer strike, so I went through a box of WWB and they fired fine.
All of the rounds showed a primer hit and most fired when hit a second time...
Re-adjusted the die as per instructed (Thanks!) and loaded another test batch. These shot and ejected fine and the brass showed no signs of stress. Thank you all for you help.
I am shooting these in a LCP and they felt plenty hot, I am back down to the min. charge for the next batch.
The brass is range pickup. The 2 that split are both federal cases. Most of the brass was WWB that I had shot, but the Federals were just picked up. They were all tumbled for a couple of hours. The splits extended down to the base of the bullet and then stopped.
I suspect over crimping...
Just did a test load of .380 98 grn. lrn with 3.2 grns of Universal Clays. The manual gave a start load of 3.1 and a max of 3.6 for a 95 grn jacketed, so I thought I was pretty light.
I loaded and shot 12 and of those, 2 cases has splits from the mouth down about 1/2 way.
The loads shot...
Bought mine earlier this year, I think it was made late 2010. 200+/- rounds and no issues. Winchester WB for practice and Hornaday Critical Defense for carry. Shoots both fine. Very accurate... if you can hold it on target through the trigger pull.
