Just got my garand from the cmp last week after 3 months of waiting. Itching to try it out but the only ammo i can find at academy is 150 gr monarch at 2900 fps and 150 core lokd at walmart. Are these safe to use?

This definitely makes sense, could be why the hammer was striking on top only. My trusty dremel took care of it though, lol.

So I compared the primers on the spent casings vs. the ftf rounds. The ones that did not ignite definitely have light primer strikes. I will clean the firing pin and channel as advised and see if that works. I did notice though that the rounds that did not fire had the primers seated much deeper...

It does rest on that tail part, where the firing pin protrudes. Just doesnt hit it squarely. It hits the top of the "tail"
