I thought they were Japanese but they are just incomplete British proof marks.

You should have felt the action--it jumped at me, and the action was shiney. I'm going in tomorrow to see if I can get a few pictures and maybe a serial number.

I was at the local shop and found this for $250. What's the story? I have never heard of such a thing--it almost looked as if the markings were stamped over previous markings. I only put it on layaway so I don't have any pictures. Did I waste my money?:uhoh:

Well, a few gunsmiths quoted me in the $300 range, so I'm guessing that it will be closer to $500. That's $950 and thinking about it I could just buy an Arsenal/Converted Saiga with a boatload of ammo for all that.

That hadn't crossed my mind. A 5.56 receiver should be used. That is plan B.

It would be around the same price as a converted Saiga, so I was exploring the two options.
