JonF, mine is the PCR and the sight came from HiViz out of Colorado, so I'm sure you are correct in saying the two housing are different although they look a like. When I get my rods I will heat the ends as you suggest. Thanks for the input.

If I'm responding to a situation where the bad guy already has a handgun in his hand, then I would draw and shot, otherwise it is a standoff and I could lose as he is slightly ahead of the game. OTOH if it is a situation where say the BG is 30 feet away with a knife, then I might draw and show...

Let me see if I can explain what I found out.....I melted the old fiber optics out of the sight housing. This is the same CZ housing as shown in this thread. When I finished digging out all the old stuff, here is what I found (wish I knew how to post a picture) at the base of rounded fiber...

I tried cutting it in the middle, it almost feels like it is glued to the bottom of the steel sight frame....

I'm trying to get the old one out of the same HiViz sight as shown. I can't budge the thing, I'm thinking about drilling it out unless you guys know a better way??? I'm not trying to save it, so maybe I can burn it out????

I don't understand the thinking behind not cleaning your firearm? I can clean my PCR pretty well in less than ten minutes and it certainly gives me more than ten minutes pleasure whenever I shot it. Why wouldn't you clean it after a shooting session?

Absolutely, if no round in the chamber the handgun is only partially loaded. My carry (CZ PCR) is also a decocker, so I don't have to remember the safety if I'm having an adrenalin rush. I've had that rush on several occasions in Vietnam and I remember what happens to you.....
