    updated "bodyguard" poster

I think Oleg is correct based on the information I was able to locate. According to the United States Census the population of the United States on April 1, 2000 was 281,421,906 http://www.census.gov/census2000/states/us.html According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics there were...

This one just left me speachless... can you tell she's a Journalism major?

I agree with johnnymenudo. No need to make fun of her appearance, it isn't relevant to the discussion and it is needlessly cruel.

Only properly trained people should be allowed to carry/own guns...

Should we create a national education program for marksmanship & gun safety? Sounds revolutionary...oh wait, Theodore Roosevelt wrote about it in his 6th Annual Message to Congress on Dec. 6 1906. Excerpt below: “The Congress has most wisely provided for a National Board for the promotion...

    H.R.1243- National CCW bill introduced

I can understand both sides of the argument and support an open & civil debate. In this issue, I see the good, the bad, and the ugly. The Good: National reciprocity is a good thing for gun owners. Congress is doing what it is supposed to do, protecting our rights as enumerated by...

Mexican Zetas extending violence into U.S.

Here is an article that appeared in Saturday's Dallas Morning news about the Zetas. It has a few specifics, but of most interest to me is the comment by Gil Cerda, a spokesman for the Dallas Police Department narcotics division, said he had personally not heard of the group and could not...

    Denied a firearm's purchase.

In Texas, for both your drivers' license and CHL you can specify a residetial address and a mailing address (if different). Both will show your residential address, but will be sent to your mailing address. Not sure if that's a future option where you're at.

    Hit this poll!

I would say the yeas are up by a slight margin. You have voted on this topic. Should California make it easier for people to obtain concealed-weapons permits? Yes 1025 No 67 TOTAL 1092 ..

Ok, so who's voting for Kinky?

"I'm insinuating myself into the race against our common enemy: Rick Perry's hair," Kinky Friedman. I think that's a take off of Molly Ivans' comments about Gov. Perry's perfect hair. On CSPAN, I heard her comment that we should all be very proud of Perry, if only because he had the best...

Guns in UK, Australia, and other "civilized" places

Research by Jeff Miron at Boston University, examining homicide rates across 44 countries, found that countries with the strictest gun-control laws also tended to have the highest homicide rates. A PDF of his study titled, "Violence, Guns, and Drugs: A Cross-Country Analysis", is available...
