Glock will release a 1911 next year

Here's his retraction of that "scoop": http://www.defensereview.com/article474.html D.

Another 'Gun for my Wife' thread--but this one with criteria!

The S&W 39** and 69** series come to mind as well. D.

    When Animal Owners Attack

That can go both ways. If I know that my dog's just trying to be friendly but Joe Somebody feels threatened, if I can't control the dog then I can't/won't blame Joe for taking whatever steps he feels are necessary. D.

    next trend is upon us

Rack Grade, Sorry, no patent, as Siggyboy said, HK beat you to it. I don't know about a 91 (don't all of them have metal receivers?) but fourth pic from the top at http://www.hkpro.com/ump.htm shows a transparent(ish) UMP. It's not the clearest clear I've ever seen, but it's an attempt...

I Submit The Bhp Is The Ultimate All Around Handgun

Isn't it, "the SAS loved their BHPs"? They've been using the SIG P226 for a while now, haven't they? On the "JMB's best/last design" angle, how much of what we know as the BHP was actually designed by him before he died? Saive subsequently finished the prototype, but how much "finishing"...

Marines open up competition to non-1911

As much as I like the P220 and wish it didn't hurt when I fire one, go nose around tacticalforums.com for a while, and see for yourself what the BTDTs' opinions are of the Al-framed P220s. As for the steel P220s, I wouldn't be surprised if SOCOM, MEU(SOC), etc, view them as an unknown...

Marines open up competition to non-1911

They know this, and they don't care, because the benefits of giving the highspeedlowdrag boys what they want, outweighs the logistics headaches. On tacticalforums, Frogman has described just one or two of the scenarios where a SEAL will sling his longarm and use his pistol as his primary...

    SIG's new Granite Series ... 1911

Bahadur, my almost-totally-uninformed guess is that if they do leave the P226, it'll be for a .45 USP or one of its siblings (the Tactical, maybe)? I base this guess on having read on tacticalforums that, while in the past they carried S&W 686s when swimming through stuff they knew/thought...

    Good .22 gun for plunking?

If you already have a BHP, certain 1911s, certain Berettas or Tauri, or certain Glocks, Ciener makes and sells top-ends and magazines that will convert the pistol to .22 LR. They list the kits for all of them as $199, with kits with adjustible sights for the 1911 or the BHP for $249. D.

    SIG's new Granite Series ... 1911

quote: Ye Olde Internet Rumor Mill (tm) has it that the SEALs are considering moving away from the 226 for a .45, and goes on to say that they don't regard the 220 nearly as highly. Time will tell if there's any truth to this. Take this with a medium-sized salt lick, not just a grain of...

GLock 21 - Is the grip too big?

Hate to say it, but IMO this is too individual a thing for you to get answers that you can really apply to yourself. Here are my data points, FWIW: Like JShirley, a G21 (mine was sans fingergrooves) was my first centerfire. Sold it. Grip's too big, as are the models with fingergrooves...

    SIG's new Granite Series ... 1911

Lone_Gunman, I hope I'm wrong about this, but I see it as "if" the AWB expires, not "when"... RTFM, the "R" is probably for "Rail," in line with the P220R, P226R, and P229R. D.
