I took one of the armorers suggestion on what to use to finish my walnut stock, and used Fairtrimmers.

I didn't have to strip mine, as it was new wood. It was dry, and now looks perfect.
1Kperday. Yeah I was referring to the Special grade $995. That is what I got. Basically a new rifle. I was interested in mine for the low serial#, and the armorers said they would rather have a Special, over the 895 Service grade special.

General Disarray All CMP rifles come with a certificate of authenticity. Special grade should have the cartouche on the stock like you said. Other than that the rest of the parts should be the same manufacturer, and freshly parkerized. There are no other marks though.

No, I should have mentioned it is a Special. My buddy did score a very nice service grade though, and there were others to be had in pretty good condition.

I only bought the one can of ammo. I like to reload. I may order a couple of more for back up ammo. At .50 a round, and 24 clips it is a deal.
Buds is a local shop for some of us. With how busy they usually are the customer service is great in person. The phone is ringing non stop while I am there.
.40 is all over the Trading post section, and is cheap as it gets. I will be posting some there as soon as I get a chance to see how much extra I have.
