bull in china shop syndrome at work

If there is room under the guard, you might try a shim of copper or brass to strengthen the joint. That would give a larger surface area for the solder to grab. Another option is to go to a good hobby shop, buy some thick strip brass and fabricate a custom guard. Regards, Kevin

    Black power

Once long ago in the dim ages, (79 or 80) I rifled barrels for North American in Provo, Ut. Smallest revolver I ever worked on. Sometimes we mounted them on belt buckles. Regards, Kevin

bull in china shop syndrome at work

I would try brazing it together, I use brass rod to braze cast iron, and I silver solder brass sheet when making models. I have not experienced brittleness or hardening in either process. After the parts are reconnected, take the assembly, heat it to a dull just detectable red. Then throw it...

    How many rounds?

Thanks, that is about what I thought. I am looking at doing preparation time at home rather than fumbling around at the range. Now to "liberate" a Plastic Commercial Container from my wife. Grin, Kevin

    How many rounds?

Thanks everyone, I have a home built, replaceable chamber, rifle. It is .50 cal. and I am shooting ball until I have the sights improved. Photo of the rifle next to a Ruger 10-22 Photo of the chamber, Judging from past performance I will probably carry 10 to 20 rounds until the...

    How many rounds?

I am playing with rolled paper cartridges for my rifle. (tear and dump style) How many rounds do you typically expend on a range trip. Also for rolled cartridges what do you carry them in. Thanks, Kevin

    My new build rifle

Sorry about the delay, finally got to the range, it was a great day. Beyond hitting the target, I did not break the rifle.:) The new gas seal worked great and better nipples on the replacable chambers eliminated the miss fire problem. Now for better sights, I am going to have to do some...

    My new build rifle

elhombreconnonombre I did, but the story said square cross section, and so it was built. (Grin) Also square helps in indexing the chamber. The rifle is torn down again, test fires with the sights on, showed the rifle was exactly alinged side to side, but was shooting high. Also the gas...

    My new build rifle

The fire arms roundtable has been folded into the "1632 tech" forum, the magazine pays professional rates, is up to issue 55, and is slated to go monthly at the first of the year. (Bimonthly right now). My wife and I have about 300,000 words in the Gazette, a story in a hardback anthology...

    My new build rifle

Plug bayonets are interesting, however they can score the crown of the barrel, and they are not as effective as lug mounted blades. I have been in a medieval re-enactor club since 1970, seven foot spear is a favorite of mine. Pressures for the breach chambers were designed for...
