I think Tim knows what he is talking about. I have trained with him at a Pat Roger's class in Georgia.
If you train outside Georgia, consider Louis Awebuck, Scott Reitz, and Tiger McKee. They are all gun guys. I would train with the pistol first, since it is the hardest to master.
Paul,
This is a good review and I am glad you wrote it. The class ran smoothly, because of the quality of the students. I hope I run into you again, maybe at Tiger's place.

"But now, " he said, "take your money and a traveler's bag. And if you don't have a sword, sell your...
Tiger is a solid instructor. We have one of our guys finishing up a carbine course at Shootrite today. I train with Tiger as much as time and money will allow.
Tiger has more to offer than some people realize. I have been sending our use of force instructors to train with him for the past two years. It has been piece meal; one here or two there kind of thing. However, he is doing a handgun instructor development class for our staff this year; Lord...
Scott Reitz www.internationaltactical.com
Scott is an expert witness for law enforcement and would be a good first stop.
There are a lot of solid gun guys out there: Clint Smith, Louis Awerbuck, Tiger McKee, Jeff Gonzales, Pat Rogers, and Bill Jeans.
I have been to Thunder Ranch and I...
Tactical Tracking 2 in Alabama David Scott-Donelan
Tactical Carbine in Alabama Louis Awerbuck
Whatever I can fit into my shedule with Tiger McKee of Shootrite.
Strongly considering BSR driving instructor course in August.
Maybe something with Scott Reitz if time and money hold up.
I probably would not take a shooting class from Ayoob. I would prefer to train with Awerbuck or Tiger McKee. However, I would jump at the oppurtunity to take his Deadly Force Instructor Course. He is suppose to be the man on legal issues. Legal issues are very important from a police trainer' s...
Smoke had the right answer! You take the one that you are more comfortable with using. Which probably means the one that you have trained with the most. The gun is not going to do the job; the man behind the gun will. Luck would be another good thing to have with you!
I would take a carbine...
Cheapest is not the best way to pick who you will train with. If you want something that is like Thunder Ranch and is more cost effective; go with Tiger McKee. He is one of Clint Smith's instructors and his price is very reasonable for what you are getting. www.shootrite.org
Tiger is squared away! You get a lot of bang for your buck. If I get a chance to go back to Thunder Ranch I will; however you get more for your money at Shootrite. He also lives about a hour away from me and we host him at our range. So it just makes sense for me to train with him as much as...
Jim Crews' book covers the fundamentals. I have it and refer to it while teaching recruit classes.
There is only so much that you can get out of a book.

Which ever one that you have trained with the most. If you have not trained with any of them, leave them in the safe.
It is normally not the weapon that is the most important; it is the user!
