I shoot an M&P .40 in USPSA, and love it. Speedshooterspecialties has quite a few add-ons for it, and it's getting better all the time.

Yes, they are ugly pistols, but the wife and I each owned one:hers in .380 and mine was a JHP .45. Heavy, a PITA to disassemble and clean, but reliable and inexpensive. They are definitely one way to provide protection and peace of mind for someone with a small to nonexistent firearms budget.

My employer expressly forbids firearms on the premises. Not that I have ever obeyed it, mind you, but the policy is in place. This law helps level the playing field as my employer does NOT have a need to regulate what is in my private secured vehicle. If he made the payments for me, I might...
