Kahr makes a number of great guns. Their PM9, in particular, is very well proven and a real nice little gun, enough that I dropped $600 on one as a gift for my brother who works in law enforcement to use as his backup.
Their .380s (CW380 and P380), though, are dumpster fires. Cut and run.
I actually sold my only 1911 (RIA GI) today. I just had to accept that there are amazing guns out there and they're not all for everyone. I'm just...really not a 1911 guy.
But I do like Ruger and the SR1911 has always seemed like a great, great value for the money. Nice that there are more...
Been a very happy PX4 owner for 6 years. I helped a friend choose an SR9 fullsize as his first gun.
I think both guns are good guns that would work well. I think the Beretta is a better gun.
Great deal.
As for the ammo, buy a cheap used gun you don't mind exploding if you're gonna shoot it. I also like the idea of selling to a reloader, that'd net you enough to buy a decent brick of factory loaded ammo.
HST does not stand for Hydra Shok Two. It might have at some point in the development process, but Federal has never termed it as such and it's an entirely different design other than the company. If anything it could be seen as a Hi-Shok successor.
At this point, though the idea that HST =...
I've always had great experiences with Federal American Eagle. Good experiences with Winchester White Box. Iffy experiences with PMC Bronze. Prvi brass is nice and clean as well and I've had no issues with them. I'm preparing to try Speer Lawman and given my stellar experiences with ATK's...
According to the research of Dr. Roberts and others, modern 124 and 147 do better than 115. I like standard pressure 147-grain HST the best, but finding the stuff is like finding gold.
I put the Walther PPS on layaway just two days before this announcement. I love my LCP a LOT, but I could not abide the safety and mag disconnect.
Eh, I'll probably end up getting both after the LC9S Pro has a few years on the market. Never hurts to have options :D
One of the first posts in this thread mentioned iron sights on bolt rifles, and I didn't realize how much I wanted that until now. Why can't we get modern actions like the R700 or Model 70 in shorter lengths with combat-style irons like a K98? I would buy that in a heartbeat!
Gold Dot and HST. Both have sterling reputations and both have always functioned 100% for me. In my eyes, the HST is a superior design by a hair or two but the Gold Dot has a very well established street history of effectiveness. I like both quite a lot, across calibers and weights.
