Marston pistol or Allen and Thurber

LOL, Skinny 1950, I'd be on the range working up some new loads! :what:

    TC Scout

Checking the TC manual for that pistol, 110gr is listed as max(in red and I understand why!). I was just considering the normal loads I use in my Hawken rifle, and 70-80 grains in a barrel twice as long is a pretty stout hunting load. I would think(dangerous I know!) that the shorter barrel...

Dern, 100 grains of FFG, what caliber is it, 58? 62? I thought those were mostly 50 caliber....

Why I Do Not Use My Finger/Thumb To Seat The Cap

Yes sir, a defective cap igniting during the capping process is certainly possible...but in almost 40 years of capping I've never seen it or heard of it until this thread. Considering the instant www "reporting" we have these days I would have thought that if it were anything more than extremely...

    .50 vs .54

LMBO! Hocka Louis....you're right! With that qualifier(lighter projectile, same quantity of the same powder) the 50 is faster. Simple physics and I'd agree. THERE! Now let's get back to the real world and the practical applications of those simple physics. A VW will outrun a Cadillac if they...

    .50 vs .54

I'll agree with you mustanger about local selection, it just ain't there unless you shoot inline. But I'll also add that everything traditional I could ever want, dream of, or think I might need is available online and in an infinitely larger selection than any store I'll ever walk into and with...

    TC Hawken Question

...or you have an aftermarket barrel.....

    close but no cigar...

"i was probably losing on the deal money wise in the first place" I'd say you must have one heckuva Winchester.....

    .50 vs .54

This horse has been beaten to death on every BP forum that ever existed. I'll leave this discussion with this ballistics chart from a neighboring BP site I frequent where it has been likewise abused. Both roundballs are being driven to the same velocity, otherwise you're comparing apples to...

    This ain't Mayberry anymore.

Too many entitlement babies, people who've been raised from the taxpayer's coffers. I remember H.Clinton saying that "it takes a village". I agree, that's how it use to be done. Back then ANYONE"S momma or dad would snatch you up and apply the wood to your behind if you were being stupid. Now...

    .50 vs .54

Well no, actually I didn't simply say that but I'll bow to the semantics lesson. I fail to see how weighing only one feature makes a balance but hey....it's a free world. I use a 50 too, sometimes I choose a 54, and occasionally I'll mount a 58 barrel depending on the game hunted and expected...

    .50 vs .54

Sorry buddy but the only part of that statement I'll agree with is the economy`part. A 50 is no more inherently accurate than any other caliber, and certainly doesn't retain as much down-range energy as a 54, especially if velocities are comparable. That's like saying you'll get harder by a...

new BP gun and slight delay in firing

There can be a discernable delay with blackpowder occasionally, it will never be as fast as a centerfire, but it's usually due to a partially obstructed passage. Loose Triple 7 fires reliably in every one of my sidelocks with less fouling than Goex.

    Work bench

I was just gifted another corner of the bonus room, time to build another bench and shelving unit......

    Any ideas on this?

I know it would fit in nicely with the ones on my gunrack....;)
