    Broken J-frame Already

I had this issue a few years ago with my NIB 642. It would only fire about 50% of the time, and the firing pin clearly didn't extend far enough to strike primers properly. It actually took two trips to S&W to get it working 100%, but since then I have had absolutely no problems with it. Great...

    classic arms

Hopefully they'll get things back up and running soon. I bought my SKS from Classic Arms a few years ago and was very happy with the price and the product.

Foxnews Alert: Gunman on VA Tech campus

VT 2001 alum here... this is crazy to see. Virginia law about carrying in "schools" does not apply to Universities. VT is a state university so concealed carry on campus is LEGAL. However, it is written into university policies that students, faculty, and staff are not permitted to carry...

    Transfers insult to FFLs?

We have one place that charges $25 and one that charges $30. I usually only do transfers when buying something C&R or used that you can only get from certain places. When I bought my Stoeger Cougar I did use a transfer. I went into the shop with the CDNN catalog, showed them what I wanted...

What does "well regulated" mean in the 2nd Amendment?

The truth is, it doesn't matter what it means. It has no bearing on the true meaning of the amendment. Take a look: http://www.geocities.com/gene_moutoux/diagramamend2.htm

    Stoeger Cougar

I shot mine for the first time on Sunday. Never shot it DA, so I can't answer the trigger pull question, but I know you can get a "D" variant mainspring (the mainspring from the DAO Beretta variant) and that is supposed to lighten the DA pull quite a bit without hurting reliability. It is a...

    Anyone Considered These for CCW?

I'd be interested in a group buy for one or two.

If you had $300 to spend........

Stoeger Cougar, absolutely. Might be closer to $350 depending on local prices but still a steal.

    Stoeger Cougar

The slide-mounted safety makes racking the slide a little tough, since it takes up a lot of space. Mine is very tight still since I haven't cleaned all the factory crap off it, I hope that once I get it cleaned and lubed it'll be a bit easier. As a lefty, though, I'm glad the ambidextrous...

    2006 Christmas Thread

The Stoeger Cougar was my Christmas present to myself. Nothing else coming my way that I know of.

What do you take when you go to the range?

All depends on the purpose... Hoping to get to the range Saturday with my Ruger 22/45 (finally have an Ultimate Cliploader!) and my new Stoeger Cougar. I might also take one of the revolvers and possibly my Bersa, but it depends on the mood I'm in.

Stoeger Cougar - What's Your Opinion?

I've never heard of any issues, and Beretta uses the same design in the PX-4. If there were serious problems, I doubt they would've gone to the trouble of designing a new pistol around it, or continuing manufacture of the Cougar in another country like they're doing.

    Stoeger Cougar

The slide is only that way on the 9mm version. It's the equivalent of the L variant of the Beretta Cougar. As far as I can tell, the 8040F and the Stoeger in .40 are virtually identical.

    Stoeger Cougar

CDNN still has .40s for $299 (at least they did when I ordered mine). Total was $312.97 with shipping, although you'll have to pay an FFL transfer fee at whatever shop you use, so it'll come in a little above your price, but not much.

    Stoeger Cougar

It's a true safety that must be raised back up before you can fire. So you can't carry it cocked & locked. I know that when Beretta made the Cougar there was a variant that was decock only. Perhaps if the Stoeger catches on, we'll see the variants return.
