They are not controlled expansion , but they hold together better than BT. I have shot several deer with SST's and have no complaints.

NC laws are pretty good keep it in the open ( on the dash or passenger seat "plain sight) and don't have one in the chamber while on the right of way of the road. I have not heard of any restrictions on ammo.
