Kimber Ultra Carry II for $600 supposedly excellent condition, 1 mag, and 100 or so rounds through it...what should I pay for it or should I buy it at all?
114 / SB 1243 / §13-421 / Defensive display of firearms protection
"Defensive display of a firearm" means: 1 - Verbally telling someone that you have a firearm or can get one; 2 - Exposing or displaying a gun in a way that a reasonable person would understand means you can protect yourself...
I want to get a semi-auto in .223/5.56 and basically see myself as having to decide between an AR or a Mini-14. I am familiar with the AR but the Mini-14 isn't something I am as familiar with. I have heard that the "580" series is a lot better than the original and I have heard that the...
Here in AZ...
This addresses two issues faced by people who carry. It will also hopefully shed some light on at least one state's view of "brandishing" a firearm.
The following is a summary of some laws just passed in AZ.
A 4" barrel is "better" than a 2" in the sense that the bullet will accelerate longer (develop more energy) and stabilize better (come out spinning faster) and have a longer sight distance (easier to aim)...but...a 2" is "better" because you don't want a gun with a 4" barrel in your shorts...
a little off thread, but...
I have a Mini Revolver with the 1 and 1/8th inch barrel in .22 WRM and the .22LR conversion. I wanted the smallest .22 WRM revolver I could find and that is how I decided on the short barrel.
If I were going to buy another NAA revolver I would buy the Black...
saying "only" iron sights or "never" iron sights is like...
Saying I will only use iron sights or never use iron sights is like saying that I will never have a need for a pistol and they serve no purpose (and vice versa). Either one has benefits and drawbacks. If the benefits of either one tips...
shot it two weeks ago...
Shot a friend's single shot .22LR. I don't know what kind it was, I just know it was beat up, the extractor didn't work (he used a butter to get the spent case out), the wood stock was all banged up, and it didn't have a rear sight.
here are some articles and some "word of mouth"
Here is a major article from the Wall Street Journal that mentions the ammo shortage: http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20090921-703882.html
Here is another article concerning ammunition demand trends...
12 gauge, but...
If I could only have one shell/bullet for the rest of my life I would choose a 12 gauge, but putting a pistol grip on one hardly would make it a pistol (IMHO). However if I have to bring an actual pistol into a fray I would choose .44 magnum. .44 magnum is about the most I can...
It never occurred to me until now...
The thought never occurred to me, until reading this tragic thread, that someone bent on committing a crime would consider a gun range an excellent place to load up on guns and ammo. Right place (responsibly exercising his rights) + wrong time = tragic...
I can buy a Taurus 444 Ultralite .44 Magnum Titanium/Stainless 4" Barrel for $400 (private party) with supposedly 100 rounds through it. Three questions: 1. Is this a good gun? 2. Is this a good price? 3. Has anyone shot this particular gun, or one VERY similar to it, that can give feedback on...
